Trump rejects shutdown deal from congress, including the GOP. While the media likes to portray this as Pelosi/Schumer vs Trump, this is Trump vs Congress, even the GOP part. Trump is the problem. As much as they love to vilify the Democrats, a deal would have been done long ago if not for Trump.

Not "including" the GOP. It was Republicans negotiating with Republicans who then presented the agreement to the Republican President. They didn't even discuss anything with the Democrats.

That's ignorant bs right there.

Tell you what: enumerate the list of white Democrats in the past decade who openly court white supremacists. The simple truth is, if you're white and you're a racist, you're voting Republican or running as one (see Duke, D., among multiple others) or already in office as one (see King in Iowa or the President himself).

Plus the $1 billion dollar goal isn't even 1/5 of what Trump is asking for, and you know that's only the low ball estimate that would in reality end up being 4 x higher. Good luck funding that $20 at a time from Joe Sixpack.

What's funny is nobody seems to even remember that under Obama we were building a lot more border fencing. There was a bipartisan agreement to do this (statistically, Obama was actually tougher on immigration than W Bush was, but you know those open border liberals). Then, not surprisingly the costs exploded and ran into eminent domain issues (contrary to popular belief, the border isn't just middle of the desert, it is people's back yards). So, both parties agreed to stop funding it. In our vicious left vs right system, this was one issue that was actually pretty easy to get agreement on.

Then comes 2016. Trump is running for President and the GOP field for the primary is packed with people. He needed an issue to differentiate himself from the other Republicans. That was hard, because not surprisingly they all tended to have the same beliefs more or less with only minor differences. However, one thing stood out that he could hit them on - immigration. Somewhere along the way, every GOP candidate had compromised on immigration somewhere. Trump had his issue. He exaggerated the problem and simultaneously came up with a "solution".

People who buy into this are doing so in spite of a mountain of facts. They are going off feelings. They "feel" immigration is a problem. I live 10 minutes from the Canadian border and have had numerous people tell me stories of all the Latino immigrants causing problems. Really? There's nearly zero up here, but they all have Trump flags on their cars anyway.

This is 20 seconds and tells you all you need to know about Trump. The reactions from Cruz and Rubio is hilarious (and sad). "There's no way any moron buys that BS, right?"

Tulsi Gabbard and Julian Castro announced they are running for President for some reason.

It makes sense. Most years, to win the Democratic nomination, you'd have to get millions upon millions of votes; this year, you just have to get the vote from the one registered Democrat who's not actually a candidate.

Well alt-right scumbags aren't out there supporting democrats but they are praising Trump so you do the math. That doesn't mean all republicans are alt-right either, most aren't but those clowns are the ones getting all of the attention and they are the ones that Trump is trying his hardest to please.

It's sad really, the extreme right who make up a small percentage of the voting pool are the ones that scream the loudest so they get most of the attention from the media and are also the ones that Trump and most of the Republican leadership bow to. That sadly makes the more moderate republicans feel defensive because they don't want to be associated with that stuff but they are still grouped together because of the labels we use.

The Republicans who support Trump in spite of the lies and rhetoric are just as deplorable. Democrats don't have much power right now to bring about change, but the Republicans do. They could speak up and make their voices heard that they don't like the direction their party is going. You very rarely hear this though. At best, they just stay quiet (and complicit). Actual Republicans could absolutely call their congresspeople and say that they don't want this expensive and pointless wall.

They are the ones with the power to marginalize these racist morons. Trump didn't invent this.

After 2012 the Republican party put together an "autopsy" report on why they lost (again) to Obama. You don't have to read the whole thing, just skim the headings of some of the sections. This is a report done by Republicans for Republicans. It is essentially saying they need to change and not be the party that is anti-immigrant and anti-minority.

This is way before Trump back in 2012, and again, this is by the GOP. This isn't liberals talking down to the right. Everyone should read the 1st paragraph in some of the more interesting sections (obviously don't need to read the whole thing).

We have to blow the whistle at corporate malfeasance and attack corporate welfare. We should speak out when a company liquidates itself and its executives receive bonuses but rank-and-file workers are left unemployed. We should speak out when C.E.O.s receive tens of millions of dollars in retirement packages but middle-class workers have not had a meaningful raise in years.

For the G.O.P. to appeal to younger voters, we do not have to agree on every issue, but we do need to make sure young people do not see the Party as totally intolerant of alternative points of view. Already, there is a generational difference within the conservative movement about issues involving the treatment and the rights of gays — and for many younger voters, these issues are a gateway into whether the Party is a place they want to be. If our Party is not welcoming and inclusive, young people and increasingly other voters will continue to tune us out. The Party should be proud of its conservative principles, but just because someone disagrees with us on 20 percent of the issues, that does not mean we cannot come together on the rest of the issues where we do agree.

Only 24% think the border is actually a crisis and only 29% blame Democrats for the shutdown. I imagine they will be looking for a way to save face to end this very soon.

I'm always amazed at how they can get lower to middle class Americans to care so much about the 1%'s wealth. You have to admire them in a crazy way. I know people who live paycheck to paycheck who still think a flat tax is "fair".

You can't even begin to get into tax policy without looking at our broken system of deductions and loopholes. Ironically, Trump was the one to bring this up in the campaign. Basically, nobody can answer what the actual, real tax rate for the rich is because it is so inconsistent. The more you make, in theory the more you pay, but then you open up way more loopholes too.

If you look at what the "rich" pay, it is all over the place. One of the reasons people want to see Trump's tax returns is to see that he probably pays nearly zero in taxes.

McCarthy to meet with Steve King about white supremacy remarks: 'Action will be taken'

Action to be taken: A strongly-worded warning not to say those things when cameras are around or around anyone who looks like they sympathize with "the coloreds'.

Annnnnnnd....... she's done.

During her run for state legislature in 2002, Gabbard told the Honolulu Star-Bulletin, "Working with my father, Mike Gabbard, and others to pass a constitutional amendment to protect traditional marriage, I learned that real leaders are willing to make personal sacrifices for the common good. I will bring that attitude of public service to the legislature." The quote, which CNN's KFile found during a review of Gabbard's early career, shows how closely she aligned herself with her father's mission at the time.
