Beto is polling under 5% everywhere, and often times under 3% he's relaunching his campaign a second time, he doesn't bring any real value to a ticket IMO. I know some think he'll help win Texas but that's doubtful. He should have pivoted last week to running for senate in Texas again.

It isn't just that it might be a little racist, it actually is a dangerous assumption that often isn't true. Did women flock to the polls for Hillary? If they did, we'd be having a different conversation right now. Minorities actually think about a wide variety of issues just like everyone else.

Picking a VP based on checking boxes can just as easily blow up in someone's face by looking like pandering.

Oh I agree but people will seize on things like that being said these days even if the intention is something totally different. I can see why some would make that assumption based on Obama's election, he got a higher percentage of the African American vote than any other candidate in history. He was also someone who didn't have any baggage unlike Hillary who came in as a very unpopular candidate. Obama also benefited from African Americans generally voting democratic while white women split much more between Democrats and Republicans so Hillary never would have gotten as high of a percentage of the female vote as Obama did the black vote. I think it shows in the polling now though with Harris and Booker struggling with black voters that being black doesn't mean you can just assume you'll attract black voters.

He must know he's getting a vp nod from someone.

VPs aren't going to be picked based on who did the best in polling. You just gave the example of Biden who went nowhere in more than 1 Presidential campaign so I don't see the relevance. Beto works on a lot of tickets because he is a super safe and likeable white guy with no major baggage.

Texas isn't too likely no matter what but all the Senate races will be driven by the Presidential race.

Remember too that people might just be looking at future runs and/or getting publicity for their state elections. It is normal for younger candidates to make runs and get their feet wet, knowing their time is down the line.

I think Beto would be fine as VP too even though I think he's too milquetoast for the President right now.

"I don't think Donald Trump could run a mile. Would you guys enjoy trying to watch Donald Trump run a mile? That'd be hysterical. What does that guy weigh, like, 280 or something?" he said. The Daily Mail noted that Trump weighed 243 pounds in February.
"I say he, like, passes out at, like, the quarter-mile mark," Yang said.
Yang concluded that Trump would probably beat him at "something that involved, like, trying to keep something on the ground and having really large body mass — like, if there was a hot-air balloon that was rising and you needed to try and keep it on the ground, he would be better than me at that, because he is so fat,"

So for those that don't follow MLS (probably no one on this forum), there is a big deal going on now regarding Nazi/anti-fascist support. I haven't really followed it that closely but I know it's a big issue for NYCFC supporters. In that case, MLS pretty much turned a blind eye at the neo-Nazis, and recently in Portland Proud Boys tried to intimidate Timbers supporters on their march the game. Recently, MLS has a new policy that bans signs of political signs and displays, including the Iron Front logo.

Well the Chicago Fire played in Portland last night and some Fire fans had Iron Front banners. One of the so called Fire fans, well, lets just say he's full MAGA. Looking at his post history and good chance of him being in the news for a future mass shooting.

Such a shame that there are fellow fire fans that endorse domestic terrorist s*** heels like the so called antifa.
f*** antifa, can't wait for AG Barr to start a taskfirce and round those hateful violent f***s up and send them to federal prison where they belong.

He should be reported to the FBI.

Beto isn't as likeable as some here keep saying, a lot of people just see him as some guy who goes around pandering and apologizing for everything now. Speaking Spanish during the first debate was stupid, the only reason anyone is talking about him right now is because he cussed when answering a reporters question.

Biden has been dropping in polls this week and I'm really not so sure he's going to end up being the nominee, I really don't see who Beto helps by being on the ticket. If it's Warren she'll be pressured to pick a person of color, if it's Bernie he'll need someone younger and be pressured to pick a woman. Everyone else kind of ticks their own boxes, Beto brings nothing and he would be a terrible "attack dog" which is part of the VP candidates job during the campaign, would you take him seriously? Even when he tries to speak aggressively he sounds like he's whining.

I'm bookmarking this post when Kamala Harris is picked and you complain about it :tounge:
