Except that's not what happened. You had a REPUBLICAN on CNN on Don Lemon's show mocking trump supporters. It wasn't Don Lemon. It was a REPUBLICAN calling trump's supporters "boomers" and "rubes" and sounding like a southerner. The only way someone could be offended by what happened during that segment is if the person is already a trump supporter.

I'm not a Trump guy but a lot of my family and friends are. And it irritates the s*** out of me when people just assume they are all hick morons that talk with a drawl, it's one of the reasons I dont frequent this thread. This clip is the perfect example, not going to change my mind on that. And to say Lemon isn't participating in the joke is ridiculous.

Lemon laughed at a REPUBLICAN mocking trump supporters. If you claim that THAT is going to drive people to vote for trump, they were going to vote for him anyway. The fact that people can get all upity about a REPUBLICAN making a joke about them, and at the same time ignoring trump's mocking of disabled people, mocking of foreign people and their accents, attacking war veterans, women, and poor people, sexually assaulting women, raping women, stealing from charities, criminally stealing from "university" students, etc........... shows just how big of hypocrites they are.

Is there much about Trump that is rounded out though or an appeal to centrism? I kind of wonder if the reason Trump won the primary is the other Republicans tried appealing to centrism and came off just status quo business as usual.

GOP definitely don't play by the same rules but he did pick Pence to appeal to Republicans who didn't like him

Specifically with economics, Trump's running the standard GOP well tested trickle down playbook. It is the same schtick from Reagan, to Bush, to Trump. Cut taxes to the rich and the wealth will trickle down! Of course it is nonsense, but good luck selling that to people who don't really understand economics. It is 100% fully tested and it 100% doesn't work at all! :)

What they do know is they saw a little tax decrease. With Bernie (or most other Democrats), they assume taxes will go up. The GOP plan doesn't scare them, Bernie's does. Very much.

It really isn't a right vs left thing, as Trump pretty much destroyed that scale. It really comes down to branding and messaging. The GOP is great selling people on a turd plan that doesn't help them, while the Democrats don't really do a good job of debunking the GOP plan and pushing their own.

I think there's a lot of merits to things like Bernie, but the narrative has to tone way down. Make it into a socialist revolution and you'll scare the living poop out of every swing voter in the lower and middle class. With the GOP, they see a low unemployment rate, high stock market (which they don't profit off of much) and even a few bucks saved on tax day. The person who sees that is not super likely to vote Trump out, even if they think he's a lying con man.

The Democrats need a gentle push on the narrative. I'd bring up the private plane tax deduction specifically. I'd bring up how major corporations pay zero taxes. I'd bring up how Trump likely has not paid taxes in ages. Promise the middle class a bigger tax cut than the GOP. I'm not against Bernie necessarily, just the way he spins it. Most people don't want a class war. We just need rich people to pay more and the middle class to get a cut which will go right back into growing the economy.

Lemon says he wasn't laughing at the stuff that was being said to mock the voters he was laughing at that stupid joke about finding Ukraine on a map, if you watch it that is kind of how it looks, he was laughing before the other stuff started and didn't stop until after. That being said the joke he broke over wasn't all that funny so at the very least he's guilty of being easily amused.
 
He was definitely laughing at the joke about how Trump couldn't find Ukrane on a map if you labeled it with a U and a picture of a crane. :laugh:

He's not laughing at half the country. He's laughing at Trump.

I kinda think it's time that every candidate who is not the nominee should commit to pick one of the Senate seats that's up for election and campaign for the Democratic candidate for that seat. Say, for example, klobuchar starts in Iowa and campaigns for Ernst's opponent.

Hopefully he keeps working hard to get others elected. After the next week or two his still running will be unquestionably about his ego only
 
I'll never get the mindset. It's one thing if you are a moderate or even right of center type person and say you're going to vote for Buttigieg for example but Warren or Bernie is too far left. But for a Bernie person or even a Clinton person still fed up with 2016 to say you won't vote for anyone blue is crazy.

It's quite amazing watching the very institutions our country were founded upon being destroyed. Republicans have and always will be the enemies of democracy, the United States, and the U.S. Constitution. Traitors top to bottom.

A lot of the Clintonites and other centrists are just two hairs from being moderate Republicans, they don't want any real change they just want to be in charge, people who are truly tying to make a difference scare them and it's pathetic.

And like that, by tomorrow night, republicans will have officially made the president a king no longer held accountable by the constitution. A president will be able to seek foreign aid in undermining our democracy.

On the bright side, they just gave the next democrat president free reign. I mean, they don't want to be hypocrites rights? Lol...

Next dem president, hopefully after November, needs to immediately order investigations into all republican politicians. Next they would immediately remove all trump appointed trump judges, based on the it's in the best interest for the country.

Probably make it law that senators and scotus judges have term limits.

Kill citizens united. Kill corporate lobbying together.

And here we are. Personally, if he gets elected king another 4 years, it's a breaking point for me.

The Republican misinformation machine does a great job of putting fear into everyone about everything. The narrative is always "gov't is bad, so someone who does nothing is good". Anyone who is the slightest bit left of center is a "radical socialist". Meanwhile the alt right pushes the country more and more extreme to the right, so they suddenly see the left as "way out there". They have zero perspective how the alt right have moved the country.

There's also a lot of people who I consider "Democrats" who are not liberals. I live in NY State, but on the opposite side from NYC. While we're definitely a blue area, we aren't very liberal.

The real problem too is that you now have a bunch of people who are the opposite - they see the centrist Democrats as sand bags (and they aren't entirely wrong).

The big difference is that the Republicans attack the entire Democratic party from top to bottom. They'll bring up AOC in a discussion about the 2020 Presidential election. They don't care. They attack the entire party. The Democrats have been forced into attacking just Trump.

Once impeachment is done, this needs to be the primary message out of the Democrats. Fox News filters the economic news just like everything else. People literally need to be told that the GOP economy is not working for them. Minimal growth, stagnant wages and on the cusp of a recession. The early upswing that Trump saw was going to happen anyway, as we were on the exact same trajectory with Obama.
