He isn't saying "rich people are bad", even if some people want to misinterpret it that way. He is saying the ultra-rich shouldn't exist based on the constructs of a properly regulated free market economy.

I sort of understand that, but his language is just horrible. I'm perfectly fine talking about how the rich pay almost no taxes and such. I think it is a very easy sell to say that companies should be paying 20%+ taxes like the rest of us.

It isn't as much about policy as it is about narrative.

I realize that this is enhanced because they are purposely punching at Bloomberg, but this "all billionaires are bad" will come back and bite them. They will either have to walk it back or worse - alienate huge chunks of people.

These chants of "Wall Street Pete" because a guy happened to take some donations is a perfect example. Are they saying that nobody rich could possibly be on our side? That's a bad statement IMHO. I don't like Bloomberg much, but I don't hate him because he's rich. I hate him because he's out of touch.

Don't let Trump push you into a position further left as a counter. You don't have to be a boring centrist, but you can't go this far left.
QFT this exactly... now centrist aren't boring just because they don't want to blow up the best country on the planet to start from scratch. Does anyone believe Bernie if elected will be able to deliver all the promises?

We have to go further left to get the center where it needs to be, for far too long dems have been caving in and allowing republicans to keep moving the center to the right. I don't believe for a second that Bernie will be able to get Medicare for all done but I do believe he'll get something that's a lot better than we have now, if your stated position is "I want a public option" you'll never get it, you'll have to negotiate that away just to get something small.

When you are taking donations from Billionaires you aren't very likely to do much without their consent because they won't donate to you again if you piss them off. Bernie is right about Billionaires shouldn't exist, the economy isn't set up to have so much in the hands of so few, there is a huge difference between a millionaire and a billionaire and millionaires are doing just fine.

You really feel this way? Everyone I know is saying the opposite is true. Look @ the history of the democratic party where it was and now where it is. JFK and Bill Clinton maybe conservatives if they were running today.

I 100% agree, but now is not the time to fight that battle, and it isn't the time to fight the battle with the strong language Bernie uses.

You can talk about all these things, but just tone it down. When Bernie talks about Apple making billions and paying zero taxes, that's great. These billionaires need to pay their fair share. Most people would agree with that. Heck you can even sometimes get Republicans talking about that. The #1 reason Trump wants to hide his taxes is that he probably pays nothing in taxes. The idea that Apple can sell a bazillion devices in the US and pay no taxes is insane.

Crossing the line into "they shouldn't exist" is just class warfare and going to scare people off. Right or wrong, it isn't the time.

This election is a lot closer than people understand. Now is not the time to push a risky pick. Just the opposite. Trump's approval has gone up since his impeachment. Gallup has him at 49% now. That's not a lock for him to win, but it is nowhere near where it should be. Nearly half the country approves? That should scare people. That's not electoral college people, but the country. That means with Cali, NY and other blue states, you still barely have half.

Regardless of what is for the best we are probably stuck with it having to be Bernie and having to hope for the best.

But Florida is lost for sure

Trump's biggest advantage in the debates will be the fact that he isn't bound by morality or truth. He will literally make anything up, Fox News and the other Republicans will refuse to call him out, and the Democrats will be constantly defending themselves from slander or refuting false claims that Trump will make up about himself to seem as favorable as possible.

How do the candidates attempt to stop Bernie if they attack each other? Bernie for the easy nomination win...

Probably because they know they can't beat him unless they knock everyone out and absorb their votes. Field just stayed too big for too long.

Yeah I guess just seems unproductive. Now they're all staying in and accomplished nothing. If they would have knocked Bernie down they'd still be in the mix...

I have been saying for months that it should just be Bernie, Warren, Pete, and Biden.

Other than being pro choice Clinton is conservative at least when it comes to economic policy and so was Obama, hell Obama let banks choose several of his cabinet members and his signature achievement the ACA (Obamacare) was originally a Republican idea, he wouldn't even fight for a public option. For far too long Dems have caved on economic policy and foreign policy and that has to stop. We need to stop pretending that focusing on what bathroom less than 1% of the population gets to use deserves as much attention as things like income inequality. Republicans are great about getting everything they want and still crying how they got screwed in the process, they've been doing it for decades.

Bernie would be the best one to debate him, he would basically hit Trump back just as hard.

Yeah these issues turn off many folks from caring to listen.

For Bernie to win, you're going to need millennials and other people who didn't vote in the past to turn out in huge numbers. I mean, if tons of college kids go vote for Bernie, there's a chance. Bernie can win more new votes and make the traditional swing votes irrelevant. Historically, younger people have not voted as highly.

If Bernie's the nominee, the whole election should be about getting people registered and voting who might not have before. This gets into all the election rules that will cut off voter registration and such.

Seriously, I will donate toward building a prison just for the housing trump, his admin, and congressional gop for what they are doing to this country.

I want to see Bernie say to trump’s face, “You’re a racist, a fake billionaire, you cheated on all your wives, and you made illegal payments to a porn star to shut her up.”

How? The three house thing? the guy lives in Vermont, works in DC and has a summer home, yeah he's well off because he wrote a very successful book but he's also the one trying to make things better for everyone else. He's not like Bloomberg looking down on everyone and basically saying he deserves to be POTUS because he's rich. Bernie will win all of the states a Dem always wins, the battleground states are the ones to watch and Bernie is doing better than Trump in a few of them.

Young people who support him will likely show up in a pretty big way, they are donating and volunteering for him so it's pretty likely they'll make the effort to vote.

Trump would just roll his eyes along with the majority of Americans.

The way for a Democrat to win in 2020 is to not run against Trump. if I was heading the campaign of whoever wins, I'd have the candidate barely mention Trump, and I'd never, ever address him by name. The people who hate Trump are with you, and anyone who doesn't hate him is a lost cause. Forget Trump, and start talking the issues. The guy feeds off negative attention. I'd even consider skipping debates, but that'd make whoever look weak.

The way to win is to not fight Trump. The way to win is to talk the issues. You have to shatter this GOP myth that they are good for the economy. They are causing the deficit to explode and trying to cut Medicare and a bunch of other things. The small middle class tax cut expires, while the rich get everything. They should talk about nothing but stagnant wages, rising costs, and healthcare.

Stop hoping people do the right thing, and instead convince them that Democrats are in their best interests.

If that is what you want the campaign to be then you probably want it to be Bernie
