The point about economic collapse and pandemic is idiotic because we are at the start. Polls aren't going matter for 6 months at least. The election is going to be decided by the virus but how people feel about it today is meaningless. Leaders around the world are getting big jumps in approval ratings and governors here are as well. 50% or whatever saying they think Trump is doing a good job is pretty bad with the world rallying around their leaders. Fox put out a poll yesterday giving Trump his best approval rating ever and still losing to Biden by 9. Should anyone wet the bed over that? No because its useless now.

Trump can't run on the economy anymore. He will have to run on doing a great job during this and every single day he says or does something that will be easy to use against him in an ad.

But of course what it really boils down to is "we should have nominated the guy who polls with more enthusiasm even though nobody shows up to vote for him"

Yep, just wait a month or two even when we're on lockdown into summer with no sign of improvement. This thing is just getting started in many areas. On our local news there's someone dying every day now, and not just elderly. People can deal with this for a week or two, but as we hit May and it just gets worse, people will be angry.

Trump's tough talk plays well for now, as most people are just reading about this in the news. Trump is promising pure fantasy, saying we'll be back by Easter. That polls well now, but wait until we pass it and the bodies keep piling up.

From it will go away to 100k dead is a good job.

But hey how about them ratings.

I want you to be correct. But I'm afraid ~40% of the population will have this same logic come November.

And you think the console warz have some serious goalpost moving.

Most of them are hopeless, but we can keep chipping away at them. I know out of that 40%, some of them have a rational brain still. Maybe not many, but every little bit helps.

Go to any Walmart and you'll see soccer moms walking around with t-shirts over their faces buying food for their kids (for those of you in areas not hit hard yet, spoiler alert).

They are just now finding out that this is going to go another 30 days bare minimum. Even a few deep in the Fox News bubble are going to realize that this could have been made less severe with faster action.

Replies are hilarious. Imagine trying to justify being against people being able to vote.

He admitted, and supported by republicans gerrymandering, voter suppression, illegal registration purging, and voter fraud, that that's the only way republicans win. f*** them all. DESTROY the party in November.

Joe is a freaking mess :( I don't know how we had all of the candidates to choose from that we did and a guy like Trump to run against and we are nominating an old guy with no new ideas. I really am afraid Biden will lose, I wish the media hadn't kept the "he's the most electable" narrative going on so long.

Because nobody could run to the left without getting purity tested out of the race by Bernie

Also that video wasn't even that bad. Just some hacks trying too hard because they are mad its not Bernie.

This channel is trying to hard to push an agenda. I don't see anything wrong with what Joe said. Politicians not directly answering questions to put out their own narrative? ZOMG! :) Their forced agenda is so painful.

Yes, he's boring. Yes, he's not going to do anything particularly exciting. At best, he might be able to get ACA back alive (even that may be too far gone). He's fine to lead though. The next 4 years will be about rebuilding government, because all that is left is "interim" people who are Trump sycophants.

Guess what though? A socialist revolution isn't happening. Even a smaller left swing isn't happening. We lost to Trump in 2016 and it is going to be very close again. Trump gets impeached and his poll numbers go up. The pandemic so far has his numbers going even higher up.

You can't have what you want right now, but in 4 years the doors will open up. Joe won't go 2 terms, so that opens up the door for someone much more interesting.

If Trump wins again, this country is done. The election itself is already in jeopardy. This isn't time to push anything to the left. We push too far and there may not be a free election in this country ever again. It is also possible we simply lose fairly.

That doesn't concern me much when you see Trudeau pushing 70% and Gov Cuomo near 90%. Leaders everywhere getting huge bumps. Trump getting a couple points isn't that great.

Most people aren't even aware of what he did wrong anyway

That show is a populist show for sure but Biden's lack of visibility followed up by a bunch of nonsense answers when he finally did come out of hiding to do tv interviews show he's just not ready for what's going on. A man with his level of experience should be handling this stuff easily, instead he has to keep looking at notes and loses his place and things just become a word salad.

The guy who made the remarks isn't a Bernie supporter, Krystal is but he's not he just doesn't trash him. They could have used clips from plenty of other shows that Biden has appeared on since his basement studio was "constructed" but they focused on the newest thing.

So are we back to blaming Bernie again because the center wants to put someone up who is friendly to corporate interests and doesn't want to make changes that will hurt the rich? The lack of enthusiasm for Biden is troubling and that's not Bernie's fault it's Biden's for not being able to inspire people. He brags about the black vote quite often but when you see black voters being interviewed most of them say they are voting for the person they think white people will accept which is just sad.

Biden's lack of visibility

Come on now. He's got the nomination wrapped up (only one person in this country still who hasn't accepted that). We're in a pandemic and the last thing we need is a 70something year old out shaking hands. Primaries are being delayed all over, I know ours in NY was supposed to be soon but is pushed way back.

The guy is doing exactly what he should - sitting tight and resting up until the big one this fall. Trump now can't run his rallies either which is a huge win.

I have said we would be better of if they both didn't run but the reaility is him being there means nobody could run to the left. Health care is the perfect example. There is plenty of room between the wild west s***show we have now and what Bernie would want to have. There is plenty of room between what Biden wants to do and what Bernie wants to do but it can't be explored because if its not Bernie's plan. Perfect example

Medicare 4 All isn't going to happen. It wouldn't happen if Bernie won. So does that mean nothing should happen? Why does anyone that wants to make any improvements especially ones that actually could happen need to be labeled as someone who is ok with poor people dying?

Because its cult of personality with his campaign and you are either with him or you're against him.

If the enthusiasm numbers are low that just means everyone else ran terrible campaigns in which case what campaign that went nowhere are we supposed to be longing for? All the campaigns had to convince people they could win. If that is all a voter cares about you need to convince them. You need to build a real coalition too. Not just people on Twitter. Not just 30%. For some reason its ok that Bernie made no attempts to get anyone's endorsements. Why actually try to win over the voters of other candidates? Just give the same speech about establishment. I'm sure the 96734th time people hear they will be convinced.

The center didn't put up anyone. The voters picked Biden.

This is the simple reality that Bernie supporters need to understand. There's no deep state conspiracy against him. We know what Bernie stands for, and we support other candidates. His message is very far left with no wiggle room for any kind of compromise. I don't dislike Bernie and I understand why people follow him, but his far left views aren't going to work in America right now.

It's the same thing when people were crying about there being no minority candidates left. People didn't poll for them, nor did they get enough donations. The voters are responsible for them not being there.

Yep, although I really wonder if the big field would have turned out differently without Bernie at all. Bernie is still big enough to suck up a ton of early votes. Does Warren stand a chance not having to compete for the progressive votes?

I've said before I don't believe Bernie would be able to pass M4A but I do think he'd negotiate in something much better than Biden would simply because his starting point in negotiations is further left. Biden is starting in the middle and if he gives in on anything we are basically stuck with what we have now. Too many centrists had plans like Biden's and didn't offer anything substantively better than we have now.

Biden was constantly touted as the most electable by nearly every talking head on TV, they don't want the changes people on the left want.

Nobody says it's deep state against Bernie but there is an effort by the Democratic establishment to push the current against him.

As far as his ideas, M4A or some form of Universal coverage would be great right now, people are losing their jobs and their healthcare benefits along with them.
