What he's saying: "The information that I heard in this classified setting, where we're sworn to secrecy, is absolutely chilling, startling and shocking," Blumenthal said.

  • "The American people need and deserve to know it. It comes from intelligence sources that we are now barred from revealing. But the next step really is for the Trump administration to declassify it to make it available. "
  • The intelligence suggests "that the past Soviet, or Russian techniques, are looking like child's play compared to what they're doing now globally," he added.

I don't know about you guys but I'm getting sick of seeing people on twitter say "If Biden doesn't pick a Black woman he's going to lose" why are people so freaking obsessed about picking someone based on the two things they had no control over? their gender and ethnicity. He already committed to it being a woman which was stupid in the first place, now he's being pressured to pick a black woman and while I have no doubt he could find a black woman qualified to do the job and who is up to the task that's not the point. He should pick the best person for this time not someone who checks a few boxes with the social media crowd,

He is definitely being put in an awkward position by politicians as well. Klobuchar said he should. Maxine Waters practically said he had to and guaranteed he would.

But no doubt people will claim who he picks isn't deserving even though its likely coming down to the women he was always going to pick.

It is the horrible no-win situation that the left forces upon itself. We have to wring our hands and run a purity test on exactly how good we're doing, meanwhile the other side says and does horrible things and has zero repercussions. We beat ourselves up for doing a good thing, while the other side gets rewarded for doing the wrong thing.

Harris speaks last next week at convention other than his family. It's Harris. Not the perfect choice, nor my choice, I would have chosen Duckworth if it had to be a woman, but I'm ok with it now. If the radical left wasn't so venomous, I'd have looked at Kasich. Anything is a better pick than Tim Kaine, except for Gabbard!

And people don't get bothered when it goes the other way. We know Obama was never going to pick a VP that wasn't an older white guy. Nobody else was ever going to be considered. Similar for Hillary. Someone like Booker or Harris would done the same if they won. That is just the reality.

Put me in the venemous left then because picking even the least bad Republican would be completely offensive. Biden is way too old for that kind of symbolic unity pick.

I'm still worried its going to be Rice and I don't think the speaker slots mean much because most likely almost nobody knows who it is yet.

I wouldn't consider you venomous left. I know you don't like Kasich. And I would have reservations about a president Kasich if something happened to Biden or he really is a one term president. But I would look at him. I would probably have him as part of my cabinet in the end, and that looks like it will be the case.

I think the criticism he would get for even looking at him would be deserved

I would question whether he would take a cabinet spot. He might still be hoping on the party rejecting Trump and him getting the 2024 nomination. Not that there is any chance of that actually happening.

It's going to be a POS like cruz or pence or some vile republican that isn't a complete moron. I shudder to think it could be someone more dangerous than a complete buffoon that is such a little "man" but people are afraid of them.

I think a GOP VP would just look weak. It would be nice to sort of extend an olive branch across the aisle, but I think that would end up looking like weakness instead of the strength. Our political culture is so toxic now that I don't know if that's even possible. I'm all for distancing ourselves from the twitter mob, but I don't think you can just completely ignore them either. Politically, I'd be perfectly fine with Biden + Kasich but I think that would cause too many ripples in the base.

I think you'd play into the fears of the "radical left" that the GOP is trying to paint. Plus I think the GOP base would just scream, "Traitor!" and turn it into a mess.

I think the way you win those voters is by talking issues that matter to the right. Economy and social security. Too much of the left doesn't seem to understand (or care?) what anyone right of them thinks or wants. Trump was holding a presser yesterday reading off all the stats on the stock market. That's what will sway those fence sitting GOPers. Talk their language, assure them that you won't mess with the economy. You've got to burn through the propaganda and get that out there.

Would you really pick and announce the chief of staff if the person already had their own staff in place? So Rice it is?

Why are you saying that? Haven't seen a connection.

I was assuming that whoever the pick was would put someone from their own staff in place but apparently this is just how it works and it doesn't mean anything. Back to hoping for Harris or Duckworth.

Biden has selected his running mate and will announce hopefully today.

Its time for the best VP pick of all time
