I would say anyone who hasn't met either of the requirements should drop out, if you have met the donor but not polling I can see sticking around and trying to get in for October and vice versa but after that if they haven't made it in they need to give up.

As far as Pete and Harris I think both have already been exposed as standard say a lot without saying anything politicians. I'd vote for either one over Trump but unlike Yang I don't think they have a message or policy idea that stands out and makes them look to be more desirable than any of the candidates who are ahead of them right now.
If they haven't met both, they need to go. Polling more so. It's easy to get a few big doners to make the money threshold. Polling is the real indicator if you're viable or not. Nobody left is making a big splash with some new fangled stance on something that will fuel them and give them an amazing boost. They are what they are now. All of them have told us who they are.

I don't really agree with that. Steyer is pretty much buying into the debate by spending millions to get small donors and small percentages in a couple states. It doesn't mean that much.

Well its not like Yang has the support to back what you are saying up. You are saying "I like X but not Y so Y should drop out". They have support and if they can build more they can be a threat if the support goes away they should and hopefully will drop out. The candidates that absolutely can't win are the ones who should be pushed to drop out first.

Yang is talking about UBI and actual things that are going to have a direct impact on a majority of Americans, Sanders and Warren are sticking up for the little guy too but they aren't as focused on things like AI, automation etc which are HUGE issues.

It's not about how much you bring in it's unique individual donors, I'd agree with you if it was based on the amount brought in.

Most Americans aren't even paying close attention to these candidates right now, people who are participating in this thread are likely far more engaged than the average American so trying to get your message out there if you aren't well known is hard.

Well I don't really see anything coming of it but that is another reason why I wouldn't really take as big of an issue with him running as I would with others. Its a shame we aren't under 10 candidates at this point. Him as one of the 10 is fine. In a few months? Not so much.

But I wouldn't expect or demand candidates who could win to drop out before candidates who can't no matter what the issues. BUT if you are going to have a candidate for an issue then we should argue for Inslee who is the biggest in terms of talking climate change. That should be the biggest issue and one you can and should force the candidates to speak on.

I have a ton of respect for Inslee as well, sadly he's not even getting 1% in most polls but he has a message that needs to be heard and taken seriously. I'd love to see a Yang/Inslee ticket but I know that won't happen. Sadly even if Yang were to miraculously become the nominee he's basically said he'd have a female running mate, he didn't say it for sure but he's made it sound like he's leaning that way and too many people on our side would take it as some kind of personal attack if he didn't stick with it.

That congresswoman is great and she makes great points. I still can't get past $1600 / month for rent of a 1 bedroom apartment. Obviously that's California prices, but that's just insane. The cost of living of these places seems to be a big issue (not that it isn't a valid point overall in the country).

I mean I just paid off a mortgage on a 15 year loan on a 3 bedroom house and my payments were barely over $1000 at the highest (granted I'm on the opposite end of the cost of living spectrum).

Damn Warren is getting real serious and a wild Beto appears

Inslee would be kind of wasted as a VP and he doesn't bring much to the table electorally either. Put him in charge of the EPA or something along those lines.

True, that'd be a better idea, I'm just a sucker for someone who actually talks about the environment.

Yeah the cost of living here in Cali is crazy, average home prices in LA are over $500k, I know where I live our house was purchased in 1976 for around $40k and it's estimated value now is over $500k and it's a small 3 bedroom 1 bath house, barely over 1100sq ft. If we were to sell the house we'd have to leave California to actually be able to upgrade at all.

So Stacy Abrams says she's not running for president, but would be willing to listen if anyone asked her to be VP. At this point, if it's a white man nominated, I don't see anyone better than her as an option for VP.

I wonder if the rumor of Biden wanting to announce her as VP right out of the gate had any truth to it.

I'd rather she ran for the senate seat there, she'd be more valuable there than as VP. I know some think a male nominee has to pick a woman but we've let the media and twitter activists push that the narrative for too long, as always it should be the most qualified person who can and will help the nominee implement his/her vision for the country.

Well we both know if a woman is at the top they will have to pick a man

But its a shame that if a man wins and they don't pick a woman they will face criticism just like will face it if they do. People will claim that the person isn't deserving.

Lets be honest though the VP isn't going to be picked because they can help the President run the country. They will be picked based on helping them win and I'm fine with that. And if that is her? Then do it. Personally I say whoever wins should just pick Beto.

And I agree she should run for Senate

I'm thinking more for the African American vote over her being a woman. Although if it's Biden then might not matter.

I like Abrams but i agree she'd be more valuable in congress. Beto will make a great VP, he seems to genuinely care about people and is at his best when hes just connecting with people and not trying to be a politician.

Biden was picked by Obama because of his extensive experience in foreign policy which was something Obama lacked. A VP can very much help in that way, they also help shield the nominee from criticism about not having enough knowledge in a particular area.

Beto needs to back out and run for Senate as well IMO.

If you say that in public you'll be called out because some people will take that to mean you think black people would only vote for her because she's black. Funny enough Biden is doing a lot better with black voters than either Harris or Booker.

It isn't just that it might be a little racist, it actually is a dangerous assumption that often isn't true. Did women flock to the polls for Hillary? If they did, we'd be having a different conversation right now. Minorities actually think about a wide variety of issues just like everyone else.

Picking a VP based on checking boxes can just as easily blow up in someone's face by looking like pandering.

Which was going to help him win. As an inexperienced Presidential candidate he needed the experience on the ticket. The conventional wisdom with VP picks is to play it safe but even that is about winning. Just get the right person. Whoever that is.

Doesn't seem like Beto is going to do that and honestly the senate race might have its best shot if he was on the Presidential ticket in some place.

Hickenlooper dropped out, and his dozens of supporters are sad.
