The Escapist: Why the PS4 is kicking Xbox One's arse.

Let me guess: Lower price point, better hardware for higher resolutions while sustaining nice effects/game performance, bad PR from E3 leaving bad taste in its consumers' mouths?

It's selling well because it's cheaper and has a reputation for playing multiplats better and looking better (multiplats tending to be what sells the most).

Beat me to it.

Actually his main point was that the PS4 has more games.

Own both and I've spent more time playing and enjoying the MS indie titles (Powerstar Golf, Max, Peggle2) than the free offerings of PS+ (Outlast, Dead Nation, Contrast, Warframe). I did enjoy the short experience of Flower. But that's just me and my opinion, looking at it from a purely gaming standpoint it's easy to argue that Sony has offered more indie titles and more free ones.

Something about the free ones for me is that since I didn't pay for them I don't feel like I "have" to play them. For example in Outlast I got stuck and after 20 tries just gave up. Now if I had invested in that title I may have put more time in and got through it and be able to put that experience up there with the MS indies I've paid for and conquered.

That said, most of my gaming time on the new consoles hasn't even been about indies, it's been about the blockbusters and thus far MS is way ahead for exclusive experiences. The gap narrows somewhat with Infamous but I'd still give the overall edge there to MS. As for multiplats, Sony gets the slight nod as I haven't really seen any mind-blowing differences between the 2 but won't argue the comparisons saying Sony wins.

So just from a gaming standpoint, Sony and MS are about equal. MS has some neat stuff going on with the Kinect commands and snapping while Sony has offered up some pretty entertaining latenight "Live from Playstation" amateur events. ;)

He's right. The "PS4 has no games" argument is weak.

Yeah, it's a strange argument to make when there are 38 games available right now on the Xbox one (13 of which are rated "75" or higher on metacritic), and 46 games on the PS4 (24 of which are rated "75" or higher on metacritic).

"Live from Playstation" is so random sometimes, caught a girl twerking because she wanted more viewers, lol.

I haven't viewed the video since I'm at school right now, but if that really was his argument, then I think it's an extremely silly one. Indie games and multi-million dollar AAA games are not even in the same realm of comparable. A lot of things determine score, such as what you are getting for the price, and how fun, big or small, that game is to play.

AAA games are held to a FAR higher standard than a bunch of twin stick $3 indie shooters. Saying a small $1.99 mobile game is a better game than $60 Ryse because it scored higher on metacritic is absolutely ridiculous and disingenuous.

Ps4 currently has an advantage in the indie market, no doubt about that (we'll see how Xbox's indie initiative turns out). But when people say "PS4 has no games", I think it's more than clear they are speaking of the quality and/or selection of AAA exclusives on Xbox One vs. the PlayStation 4.

I am still trying to understand his schtick with the gloves and ensemble.

Anyway, I know this will come off as incredibly vague and arrogant, but after speaking with folks who work for video game companies, I now realize that these so-called "journalists" and "analysts" really just make up superficial conjecture based on personal anecdotal experiences.

I count myself among the ignorant, but I did get a glimpse of what it looks like from the inside out, and what internet/online personalities like Sterling say are quite honestly inane and lack any real foundation.

Metacritic?!?!

8.6 pro reviews vs 6.3 amateur reviews
