The Eternals - November 5, 2021

I like the cast. Of course, you have the Snow Bros, but I like Gemma Chan. She was in Humans; a BBC sci-fi show.

I never finished humans. Think I watched around 5 episodes. Enjoyed it but then started watching other shows and forgot about it.

worth watching please?
I'd watch the first season. The 2nd is OK and goes down from there.

There's a beginning and end to the first season, so you shouldn't feel left with any cliffhangers.

Black Panther at 96% is ridiculous. I thought it was a fun movie, but it deserves to be around 85%.
I think it had the best baddie, glad it wasn’t an all out origin story, it was fun though…I think the one thing it lacked was the cg and some of its fight scenes. But kinda understandable with the cg as marvel seemed to have every major cg studio working on infinity war and end game at the same time as it.

IMO BP should be in the nighties though, but nothing lower than 89

They did give us ragnarok and Spider-Man, but then again they also gave us the “in MCU canon” the inhumans who’s director gave us classics like the scorpion king 3 and death race 3. Had it stayed in its original intended movie form it woulda been their first flop.

But again everyone though guardians of the galaxy was gonna be their first major flop. I think some people here too felt the same way.

I could be wrong but I think Disney had some contractual obligation with him and kinda just left it to that…even marvel left them to burn whilst in production and when people questioned what was being shown before release

It is one of my least favourite MCU movies.
Yeah it had it's moments but the final 3rd of the movie was pretty bad and had some terrible effects, it's one of the most overrated superhero movies I've ever seen. The actors were all great but the story was a bit sloppy and it was way overhyped. I would have put it at like 75, it shouldn't even sniff 90.

funny how they say first AA award winner, but she is basically nobody and hasn't done much directing.

She was horrible to cast and crew. I didn’t like the women one bit. Also some reviews I have seen say it’s no different to any other Marvel movie in terms of cinematography. They have the ‘pre viz’ (CG animated scenes) and usually on Marvel movies the director copy and pastes them, shoots exactly what’s in the previz.

Sometimes the director is involved in the process re what’s in the previz, how its shot, camera angles, edit, moments etc but in this case I don’t think she was as it’s not her style, she had never worked with a big crew or even extras before, so she has definitely not been introduced to the ideas of using previz.

Marvel is a machine, a massive superhero money making machine, they are gonna tell her what to do and shoot, I saw her sometimes screaming they are messing with her vision  what vision, how many big movies has she worked on, how many big budget superhero action movies has she worked on………..

Actually this is the main reason Zack left the OG JL, even someone as big as Zack Snyder still had the big dogs breathing down his neck and telling him what to shoot, so he did his own cut and version. Only difference I think Zack is a great director and a really nice guy who I would work for any day of the week, the b!tch on Eternals, I wouldn’t help her with her shopping if she was struggling to cross the road 😂

I have no idea why they gave it to her in the first place *shrugs*

Because she has contacts! She is a spoilt kid, daughter of a famous Chinese actress. I hate been negative, but I like being realistic, these 2 things are pretty close and some people can’t tell them apart.
Some people like her get these breaks when imho I don’t think they deserve them.

Dat is sexist. Naughty Badmonk. Naughty.

I guess "freedom" and "director vision" are always going to be limited when working within a vast organism like the MCU and your movie is just a little bit of the whole that spans dozens of movies and TV shows now too.

Very close to going rotten which would be Marvels first.

BP was pretty dull with some unbelievably bad CGI but it's also one of the few marvel films with good villains.
