The ever growing number of job layoffs

All these things make them waffling on multiplatform seem more confusing. What happens to the studios of the exclusives when they underperform?

Its not like they are going to sell Xboxs. Sony will barely be able to sell consoles how will MS?
 
Remember that the Next Xbox being a beefy, powerful PC lite came back under old leadership, and before the prices exploded. This was all before Asha. All she did was give us the name we didn't have before.

It did seem like a good idea at the time, but I can definitely see them rethinking it. Nobody is going to buy some rediculous 4 figure console in this economy. I still think any kind of next gen is going to be many years away.

Even if they do how does it still not cost a ton? Current consoles are creeping towards 1000 and Microsoft probably isn't going to be too interested in selling at much of a loss.

Yeah that's what I said. Sony can also probably afford to sell a $1000 PS6 and just hold their market. People play on 5 or 6, they don't care.

Xbox trying to take a ton of marketshare in this environment? Good luck.

Granted I though the whole exclusive thing of going back to the old ways was dumb for them all along. The days of a Halo game pushing tons of green hardware is long gone.

Yeah, that’s fawking bonkers. But I guess it’s to be expected with all the purchased devs that they all still have their own and that’s just too much overlap that they may be the ones being let go or moved, maybe?

It’s been known since Phil went I that he head many steps to go through to be heard, and even though he reached closest to the top those below him still had a similar situation to go through

I think that's a big MS thing. 14 is just nuts though. But yeah I imagine it is probably management in the studio, then layers or managers on top of that in MS.

14 levels of management is just insane, even if that's an extreme case, that's still way, way too much.

I can't imagine how you even make a decision in that kind of environment.

Jez seems to be the only person who said it, many just reported what he said, saying that they were doing everything in their powers to keep studios open, and he was right

Nah, it’s a set number and they’re going to reach it by then. Unless there’s devs who deserve it in the future, like showing up late too many times or leaving early. I’ve seen it, and I knew them personally lose their job for said reasons

At our clinic we arrive on time but are good to go as long as our duties are done for the day . Feel lucky to say that tbh

They’re still being funded by Xbox, but I guess them losing their founder and creator of the game had them lose focus or something. It was supposed to be an mmo, but I guess this was step closer to that, especially if it’s a success
 
Did anyone read the email from Asha? This is one of those rare times where it seems layoffs or at least restructuring was needed, what a cluster it has been over there!

Should you really put stock into their PR spin of why this is necessary
