Not sure where that 700 number comes from but that's hilariously wrong. Bungie just recently was 400+.
Fair point! Still, 14 layers of management??? That’s wildShould you really put stock into their PR spin of why this is necessary
its got the screenshot from where its from but I have no idea if its accurate or if its accurate that hirings have offset the layoffs. Not sure where that 700 number comes from but that's hilariously wrong. Bungie just recently was 400+.

Oh if they kill the Doom franchise I’m gonna be so depressedId is getting hit hard. Looks like half of the studio is being let go.
Its very likely MS leaked the stuff about the studios specifically so people can do just what you are doing "It wasn't that bad they didn't even shut down any studios." It was the biggest layoff the industry has seen and would have been treated as such if that story didn't exist.Nobody is saying it isn't bad, just not nearly as bad as the media (including Tom) made it sound.
They are basically trying to spin off just about every studio, and the people getting let go seem to be some of bloated management. Even if 14 levels of management is an odd case or exaggeration, 8 is still too many.
The gaming media will never admit that they got the story wrong though, they just keep doubling down regardless.
Layoffs always suck, but bloated middle management needs to go.

14 layer comment is the same thing. Just a little morsel so people can defend it.
Stop falling for corporate bulls***. Its Microsoft who is playing you and not the media.
Well that is fair point I am not sure anybody making decisions at Xbox is thinking that far ahead so you got me on that one.Sure Jan, whatever. You think MS PR thinks that far ahead?
Most likely, everyone reported it more severe than was thought.
Nice strawman about defending it too, that's what the media loves to do as well. Who's defending thousands of layoffs? You're the one that has an agenda and it is quite sad.

Its only less severe if you think shutting down studios that in some cases might have under 100 people is worse than 1600 cuts x2. This has absolutely benefited them because some people do think that.
It is defending if you are going to use their PR spin and talk about middle management needing to go.
And yeah I do have an agenda and for good reason. They are awful.
I didn't say they came out of positively I am saying they are coming out better than they would without the rumors about the studios. You're shamlessly defending gaming media. By the way, the MS "leak" was a memo they put out saying there were going to be layoffs. There's no PR there, they said it, and did it.
It is laughable that anyone thinks MS is coming out of this positively. We just think gaming "journalists" should be held to some sort of standard. Tom Warren getting all defensive is hilariously telling.
Here's just one of the wrong takes (the verge is behind a paywall but seems to be where most copy and paste the same nonsense.
