Last time England did better than Germany in the wc...1966

If today's Germany team faced the Panama side England played this weekend, I'm convinced Germany would have had 97% of the possession, attempted 142 shots, and lost 1-0 in stoppage time. And yet, Germany's finishing wasn't quite as dire as their defending.

Japan and Belgium were impressive. Shame one of them had to lose.

I've only watched a handful of games, since they play during work hours. But this game has been the best so far. I saw the second half of that Germany game when they pulled off a late victory too.

I"m not a soccer fan, but I enjoy watching World Cups..... except for all the pansy diving. Half these guys would get 2 minute unsportsmanlike penalties in hockey for diving. Along with a token fine of $1,000 or so.

Never understood why refs don't clean up the game and give out yellow cards for big time dives. I've seen refs give out yellows before for someone blatantly diving. So it happens. But in my limited soccer watching I've seen it twice.

Surprised at how good it's been especially compared to the last 2.

So many great goals.

meh, played some proper shiet teams to the semi final.... croatia was really the only first half decent challenge and they failed

lets just say if england had won the group they would have been out way earlier

People actually voted this goal of the season?

Wasn't even the goal of that month or the best Salah scored

Haven't really followed soccer lately, either international or MLS. Thinking about finally getting to a Chicago Fire game this year. They have a game July 3 so might go to that one and stay a night or two, catch the fireworks and other festivals, etc.

Madison WI has a team in the inaugural USL League One this year so I got season tickets to them. They opened up with three away games which is fine considering the weather. This Saturday night is their home opener. Right now the weather is a high/low of 41/26, with 100% chance of rain changing to snow with 1-3 predicted. fml
