The Initiative’s Perfect Dark

Personally I had started to hope that as a reboot of the franchise they'd take it to 3rd person as well and make it a stealthy gadget oriented action game. One thing I think we can all agree on though is hoping they don't "cyberpunk" the launch of the game...

I'm sorry but just can't get excited for this yet. Key word is yet.
I think that several people are excited about the possibility of being excited for this. That's also about the level of hype they created.

...It can also be said that it's on my hype radar.

IMO, a modern Perfect Dark should be like Thief meets Mirror's Edge, although I'd love it if they just went the RPG route and had something more similar to Deus Ex or Cyberpunk in that there's room to develop the character the way you see fit, along with other in-game relationships. It doesn't need to be as complex, but some freedom of choice would be nice.

Damn...wish him all the best. Losing a close family member has got to be really hard. As far as The Initiative is concerned, losing your lead designer is not ideal but it seems like they have a bevy of talent so hopefully they will be able to pick up the slack. Loved the trailer but obvs. no gameplay there so will wait to make any judgements. I prefer first person games to 3rd personally but also think stealth works a bit better in 3rd person. We shall see.

Yeah Drew said he needed to step away from his role at the Initiative to gain more headspace. Man just went through a family tragedy. Left a management position for a non management position. The dots connect. I wish that dude all the best. Great pickup for Insomniac who has to be one of the top 3 studios in the entire industry right now. Insane that they were acquired at such a bargain. Maybe the best deal in gaming acquisitions ever. I'd take them over Bungie who is supposedly looking for 3 billion to sell.

I'm incredibly excited for this game. I'm not sure why after two entries in this series being FPS games, and the official page describing it as a FPS, that people here are hoping for this game to have as many 3rd Person segments as possible, but okay.

The Initiative seems to be a good team, I'm hoping they deliver. Perfect Dark deserves another great entry.

Just make it not suck and I couldn't care less about FPS or TPS

I’m actually hoping it stays shooter-ish but am open to other elements being brought in to spice it up. Simple first person shooters just don’t do much for me anymore.

The original is easily in my top 20 favorite games though. Played that one a ton. Probably doesn’t hold up well now but that multiplayer... if they can recreate that fun in an online environment of today, I’ll be there.

Xbox also needs to be less FPS oriented as much as they need to be less Male-oriented, and this game isn't doing anything to move the meter on that front. I'd love to see an xbox answer to God of War, Days Gone or Ghost of Tsushima...

I am not sure if you're being serious. God of War, Days Gone and Ghost of Tsushima are female-centric titles?

Not at all what I was suggesting, I think you misinterpreted what I'm saying. I listed those titles as examples of games I feel xbox would benefit by having an equivalent to. I'm saying that xbox needs to diversify their genre selection as much (or even more so) than they need to diversify the gender of their game's protagonists.

Now they have, IMO, too many RPGs. I do feel they need more family friendly games.

How does this game not “move the meter”? It has a female lead and I thought it is supposed to be third person.
