Sony started their E3 2015 off with a bang with a reveal of the (very) long-awaited Last Guardian. If you look at the GAF thread on the Sony conference, there are literally 35+ pages of "OMG"-type reactions.

I loved this little trailer, personally. It got me emotionally involved, which is a pretty significant accomplishment for a brief gameplay demo. The graphics are admittedly PS3-level, but the team does such a nice job with the characters, the atmosphere, and the sense of place. It's such a unique style.

You don't have a heart if you don't wanna have a catbird of your very own. I was hoping it would've been upgraded up from the PS3 game, but I'm just glad it may finally be released.

Such a unique game really, nothing else like it on any other console. I just hope they get it out in a timely manner and deliver a great experience. I could already feel a bond with trico.

I've played through Ico several times, but I never finished Shadow. TLG definitely seems like the spiritual successor to Ico, so I can't wait. Demo looked fantastic.

Sounds like the game didn't come out on PS3 due to technical limitations/difficulties.

Could be game of the generation here. Shadow of the Colossus was soooo good.

I loved Ico. For me it was a pinnacle of art and emotion meeting for the first time in a game...

Buuut this is going to be one of the first times in going to disagree with you Mr. Andy.

I felt like I was turkey slapped (in a bad way) when this trailer happened. I really wanted to be all "Yayyyyy!"... But I kinda felt a little bit "f*** you."

I hope this game is amazing. I hope that my little jaded heart can love this again! I'm getting a ps4 as soon as the uncharted's are out, and would love to look forward to this...

But I just cant. :'(

Why not?

Its like, when you had this amazing romp with someone for two weeks, and then you don't hook up again for a month or so, and its not how you remember, but you think "ok, maybe their having an off night... Ill cut them some slack".

You bump into them a few years later, at a random bar and your flirting and things seem promising but BAM! When you think you're going home with them, they've been kicked out of the bar because they pissed on a speaker or something.

Then, fast forward a few years, and you think "Wow... Did they always look like that? Oh well the orgasms were great, maybe I should... Wait... He wants me to wait for HOW LONG UNTIL ITS ALL OVER MY HANDS?!?!?"...

Hmm.. I'm not sure if I articulated that well...

I'm not sure I'm following that analogy, lol, or want to.

Sounds like you just didn't have the emotional response that other people did, that it was a disappointment because it didn't match your feelings for Ico somehow.

Continue to articulate, this is going somewhere, I know it.

I watched the direct feed and I'm still unimpressed with how it looks, even more so now. Something seems terribly off and it may be because there's three different art styles going on and not one of them are what I would consider PS4 quality. Obviously this game is really early but I can only go by what I'm seeing. The dog bird has one art style going on. Sure, the feathers look cool but they're of very low quality to me. The boy is in a completely different style than the dog bird and seems to be a pretty poor model and feels like he has an outline to him. The setting is the third art style. It's the most realistic of the three I mentioned. They don't seem to fit together at all and I'm put off by it.

Everyone's saying that it's about the gameplay and experience with this game so I'll take people's words for it in that regard as I have no experience with the creator's games. In terms of graphics, or being this super good looking game, I'm going to have to disagree big time.

I haven't heard anyone say it's a super good-looking game or even one of the better-looking games. I think most people would acknowledge that the graphics are not up to par with current PS4 titles. People are enthusiastic about the game for other reasons.

My initial reaction was that it was a beautiful game with a very cool art style. As it went along I wanted to choke the s*** out of the kid because his voice was annoying, and, the gameplay itself didn't look all that entertaining.

I only just played ico and shadow last year for the first time thanks to psn plus and I enjoyed them both. While the last guardian doesn't look anything close to next gen and looks like a remastered ico edition, it'll probably still be a good game. I'm kind of disappointed there's no voice acting and they're using the same gibberish talk again though.

For people that dont know the original team is back on TLG Mark Cerny and his team are also helping. The game is should release in 2016. Second the game looks great in person and the demo we saw was bascally a tutorial part of the game. They also wanted t to thank us for being patient and waiting.

looks like a remastered ico edition.

Yeah, I heard Cerny & team are in charge of (or helping out with) finalizing/finishing the game.

Hopefully PS4 will get a nice little price drop before this comes out. I need this.

Good to see the GameTrailers chap said it looked "Great". He was worried that it looked like a PS3 game at the conference and then seemed to say it looked better in person.

Those animations and seeing how Trico reacts to the player character...

Can't f***ing wait.

Video didn't do much for me but this is probably the type of game you need to be playing to fully appreciate. Happy it will actually get released.

HMM said the same thing about the art style in the E3 thread near word for word on the 3 different art styles.

Well its said to launch sometime next year, so I'm sure the visual side will change, just not sure how much. I'm guessing close to something like a remastered version. But hey, maybe they'll surprise me.

They're not really known as an elite team to me, on the visual side, but they do do a pretty decent job overall.

It doesn't look like a PS3 game, but it doesn't really look like a PS4 game, either.

Shu stated that the reveal back in what, 2009? 2010? I don't even remember. The first demo. Anyway, Shu said the demo was performing well at all, and they had to "speed up" or "spec up" for it to be shown in any state that would be considered playable. Of course, if watched the demo, it appeared to be running perfectly fine on a PS3.

PS3 wasn't going to cut it for this game. I think that much is clear. It wouldn't have been delayed for years.

It does look last gen no doubt, but that isn't a concern at all. The game play looks awesome. Well worth the wait IMO.
