The Last Of Us Part 1- Remastered Remake

The game came out in 2013, it's remade from the ground up visually, but the story is the same. I think after something has been out for 9 years you've lost your right to complain about spoilers lol.
Who said I was complaining? I only played through it once tho. Gosh it’s been almost a decade 😆

Nobody said you were I just mean in general, it's like people who just get into a show that's been on for 5 years and don't want anyone else to talk about it ever while they are around just because they finally got into it lol.

Phil praising accessibility

Microsoft Leaked Internal Review Calls The Last of Us 2 “Significantly Ahead” of Anything on Console & PC

“The visual quality and attention to detail in The Last of Us Part II is absolutely best-in-class in basically every area, and the overall presentation is significantly ahead of anything that other teams have been producing on console and PC,” the review reads.

“We were frequently stunned by the quality of the game’s visuals, something that sadly seldom happens these days. It’s even more impressive considering that the game features two separate player characters with different groups of allies, in different locations, along with flashback sequences taking place years before.”

  • Naughty has remade every inch of the games assets
  • Both DLCs including
  • fedelity mode native 4k 30fps
  • Performance 1440p 60fps (every shot counted was 1440p)
  • Visual settings identical in both modes
  • Using 120fps on PS5 can offer 40fps mode in fedelity
  • Using VRR in performance mode can result in higher then 60fps
  • Cutscenes are realtime on PS5(not pre rendered video like on PS3+PS4)
  • New character models have sub surface scatering, along with everything else being far more detailed and more natural, less stylised
  • Indoor Indirect lighting much improved
  • Improved shadws with getting more diffuse at the end of the shadow, not on par with RT shadows.
  • Folded up carpets on the ground will react to players footsteps
  • Froxel alligned volumetric lighting used far more generously
  • Fire emits light on PS5, without the trickery used in PS4 version
  • Lights effect the general volumetric lighting of the scene
  • Opening escape scene crowd has modified behaviour, they don't photobomb the camera
  • Increased volumetric fog
  • Water has been overhauled, it uses geometric ripples and foam, along with high res hand placed cube maps, much improved over the original game.
  • SSR also used on water
  • Some kind of light scattering is simulated when shining your flashlight on the water.
  • Indirect lighting while being pre calculated is still very effective and a big improvement of the remaster.
  • The PS4 remaster does have one advantage, when Joel walks under water particles are generating simulating a splash, this is missing on the PS5 version
  • The ingame character model in photo mode show more detail then TLOU2, however the higher resolution could be the reason.
  • The work done on part 1 is derived from the upgrades TLOU2 brought. They feel similar, cutscenes are comparable quality.
  • Weapons and clothing are very similar, some changes to the weapon models and texturing

Gameplay

  • Core movement is the same
  • Shooting is now more inline with TLOU2
  • Things like deph of field and motion blur are included in the gunplay for the remake
  • Joel does not have the agility of ellie and abby from TLOU2
  • John says that going prone is not included because the layout and core architecture remains unchanged
  • The clown like behaviour of the A.i in the remake is no more, enemy behave a lot smarter and not so weird.

Audio

Audio has been taken from the original game, sounds similar with a 5.1/7.1 setup, However using headphones provide superior positional audio thanks to PS5s Tempest hardware.

Damn, Joel found the fountain of youth. LOL. WTF?

People who normally aren't in a good state of mind or physically ill tend to appear older than they are. Joel was probably depressed and not as mentally stable with nothing much to live for before the events of the first game.

After meeting Ellie and forming the bond like in the end of the first game and becoming part of a community, Joel may just appear more healthy and thus more "younger" looking in the sequel

Nahh as they are marketing to people who never played the game.

If it's a $10 upgrade. If not... after a major sale.

Console games are always the measuring stick with graphics.

It's 60-40 better from what I watched.

Downgrade confirmed.

Maybe next time let Bluepoint handle it.

Its still not worth $70 to me but I'd be lying if I said this Remaster doesn't look great.

The bad news for anyone like me that wants to play this Remaster but doesn't want to pay the asking price is, it'll be a while before this is on sale for anything below $40. I've noticed with Sony's grip on digital distribution their games price takes a while to drop since Sony is the sole distributor for digital versions of which I'm firmly invested in. Who needs a disc when the game has to be installed on the HDD anyway.

That last part is the reason for the lates lawsuit against Sony in Europe. Sony better pray that suit goes nowhere because if not they may find themselves looking at significantly reduced profits from gaming.

Maybe for the directors cut? I’d be ok with it, may still wait for the price to drop though.
