The Last of Us Part 2 - New Trailer Contains Spoilers

Haha, now that you say that and I try to picture it I will say that would make me a little hypocritical as well. I probably wouldn't skip the scenes entirely, but I'd be probably uncomfortably laughing during them. Would I be offended by being "forced" to play as a gay dude? No, it's a videogame

Same here. I was playing Star Wars Fallen Order, and the entire time I thought of the guy as being gay because of the Shameless TV show. But it didn't bother me playing through the game thinking he was gay.

I've always felt that way in games, something about hearing an animal cry out in pain just.... I remember when I did this in RDR2 for the first time I really did feel bad for a second.

Hell yeah. Can kill humans in games all day but animals... dick move

Oh right, I never did finish that game, just sort of lost interest I guess, but yeah, I'm not really getting the whole " it's offensive to play as a homosexual character" train of thought, especially when it seems like a mostly secondary aspect to the game in the grand scheme of it all...

Having grown up in Alaska & Montana, I hunted throughout my childhood, so killing wild animals in games is hardly anything new, but in RDR2 for example, I hate when the bounty hunters have their bloodhounds with them. Killing domesticated animals makes me a little hesitant, but only for a split second haha...

But yet here you are bothering again discussing this with protection instead of taking to private. You are allowed to express your views I'm not and you wonder why people have such a issue with these types of things.
Then you try and attack me by saying I need a doctor because you are wrong on something?Ohhh Somebody does need help though.

First I said after that post I wasn't going to (yet here I am replying I know) You made an idiotic public statement and wanted me to respond in private? Sorry no that's not how it works, if you wanted the convo to be private you would have sent that through a PM in the first place. Your view is ignorant and makes NO sense, if you are sensitive because you said something dumb and got called you out for it maybe think harder about a subject you clearly know nothing about before you speak.

We've discussed this before, you claim the guy who asks you for money on Sunday knows more about it than an actual gay person, there is nothing of value you can add to this conversation and that's by choice, it's not because you are incapable of learning you just simply don't want to. That doesn't mean you don't offer anything of value in other areas or as a human being because clearly you do and I do like you but on this topic I'm sorry the views you've expressed show me that you don't understand and don't want to so what's the point of discussing it any further?

Yeah a lot of Ubisoft games make you kill animals and have for a while too although the animal never suffers like they do in RDR2. I'll always feel funny doing it and then I'll make myself feel better by having a nice big steak lol.

Yep.

In reality normal is a matter of perspective.

True, I don't get offended if someone says it's not normal and they are going by the definition because it's simply true, normal would be what most people are and most people are heterosexual. Now saying it's not right, that's another story IMO.

Let me ask you this, what exactly is the agenda you believe they're trying to push? That people of homosexual persuasion are inexplicably capable of things a straight protagonist might have been? What act that you're being 'forced' to participate in is offensive to you? You're being so vague about it that you haven't really made it clear what it is you're frustrated about in the slightest....
I think he is trying to hide his lesbian fetish.

Still going on as I pointed out.
So hurt and emotional that you can't help yourself and add all kinds of wrong and attemps at bashing me.

AGAIN take it to private or keep it to yourself.

As you pointed out? you mean as in the post where I said I wasn't going to reply anymore and then you pointed out THAT post as me still replying? lol

That's the problem. Not everyone is allowed to have views.
Only those who agree with the agenda.
If I don't agree with these types of things... I am a monster and am hateful.
I'm no lover of SJW ideologies, and as I've said maybe there is more to it than what I've seen so maybe I just don't know yet, but I have not seen anything that suggests a heavy handed pushing of agendas with this game. If you could elaborate even a little bit rather than dancing around ever actually saying anything, it might clear things up for me a little. As of now the only thing I can surmise is that you're vehemently homophobic so a lesbian protagonist is cause for an inordinate amount of outrage, so unless you can clarify your issues with it more than that that'll be my impression. I'm genuinely just trying to comprehend what the issue is, no hostility intended...

I would avoid any possible spoiler here my friend. I read it and it’s gonna ruin the game for you. As in spoil it.

So the agenda people feel is being pushed is simultaneously a direct narrative spoiler for the game? Maybe it is best I don't get it before going in. I was just trying to understand because is all I know is the protag is a lezzy and I kinda DGAF about that, haha... Couple weeks and I guess maybe I'll be told then. As long as all this uproar is over more than just the protag being gay then maybe it still has a chance at being justified...

It’s about more than that, but it’s reached a fever pitch and I feel like lots of people are now jumping on the hate-wagon, because it’s the cool thing to do.

I think the game looks amazing, and I’m sure it will be GOTY. I don’t personally care what any of the characters are, or who they do.

However, once you know what happens in the game, I think it’s easier to understand the uproar. There are some very forced things that have no reason to be in the game other than for the sake of making a statement. I don’t know if it’s an ‘agenda’ that’s being pushed, but the game doesn’t give you any other options so you have no choice.

For example, imagine if Halo had a chapter where MC got Lou Gehrig’s Disease, and you had to
confined to a wheelchair. I’d still play the game, but I’d be like ‘Is this really a necessary part of the game?’

I mentioned before about the new Jay and Silent Bob movie that I was so excited to see. I like most of Kevin Smith’s movies, but in this one the main female character (his real-life daughter) is bi-sexual, and has a deaf African-American girl as a GF. They both have severe Daddy issues. Most of the time I was just sitting there like ‘why is this necessary in this movie?’

I have nothing against these subjects matters, but I can understand the objections when they are forced on you, when this was never the case with the other games/movies.

Also, I miss Bellybama.

And secondly, I dated this girl once who told me she was Bisexual. I asked her how she figured that out, so she said to me ‘Do you get turned on when you see a hot girl in a bikini walking down the beach?’

So I said ‘Of course!’

And she smiled and said ‘Well so do I.’

Hmm. Honestly I don't have a very good radar for this stuff, then when I do pick up on it, I kinda don't care enough to even be annoyed, so it'll need to be really heavy handed for it to distract me. I'm not someone who skips cutscenes, I and I pay attention to them, but stories in games are not really why I play them. It's gameplay first & foremost for me, and I really enjoyed TLoU, so I'm looking forward to this one.

Yeah it all just depends on when and how it's done, I don't like heavy handed crap either. If this game were about some closed off TLOU2 version of west Hollywood where everyone was gay and all of the sudden a bunch of Christians broke in and made them go to conversion therapy I'd be pissed too but it's nothing like that. This is a gay 19 year old girl who's still trying to make sense of things in a crazy world and her personal life comes into play, she's probably also excited to find someone she can connect with as more than a friend, I'm sure there aren't a lot of lesbians in a compound in Jackson, Wyoming for her to explore that side of herself with.

As far as the other spoiler issues I think you are right, a lot of the hate seems to be coming from those and also a few assumed things that weren't true and other things based on what seem to be outdated leaks. I wasn't happy with what I read at first either but reading about how some things weren't what they were made out to be and that other things were likely changed in some ways I'm really excited for the game now.
I'm sure the big one is true but I've made my peace with it lol.

One thing that's not a spoiler is that people were claiming it was a religious group that hated gays going after Ellie and that's not the case at all, unfortunately a few religious victimhood people on neogaf got all offended and kept spreading that info like it was true. Clearly in that video we saw the other day it's not a real religion that these people follow, they are basically a fictional cult and their big issue with Ellie isn't that she's gay, hell they probably don't even know it.

After being mostly off the bandwagon after the spoilers, think I'm going to go ahead and buy the game. It's going to set a new benchmark in gaming in terms of production values and detail for videogames. Still hate the story twist...but even if I end up disliking it in the end, I don't feel bad giving them my money considering the effort and investment that went into the game. I'll reserve my final judgement until after I play through the entire thing. Regardless, it will be better to be part of the conversation after having played it. Gameplay looked much better than LoU1's so even if the story doesn't hold up, the gameplay experience should.
