The Last of Us Part 2 - New Trailer Contains Spoilers

They will most definitely kill Joel, it's the most obvious plot point, although I thought they'd do it in the first.
I can see it, Joel got s*** for what he did not letting her make the choice so she refuses to forgive him when she found out. He'll sacrifice himself for her in the end and she'll cry and all of us playing too.
The dogs won't cry though, they are cold like that.
Whelp, I guess I don't have to bother playing the first one now! JUST GREAT. GOD DAMN Spoilers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Been replaying TLOU for what I believe is the fourth time and I have a prediction about the sequels story. I think part of it may flashback to the time before Joel met Ellie possibly before Tess. There are a few lines of dialogue between Joel and his brother Tommy about the awful things they did to survive early after the chaos. The singleplayer DLC did flashbacks so it is not out of the question. It would help flesh out some of Joel's backstory.

Delay rumor:

According to the report, the news will be made official at some point this week, which doesn’t give Sony much time seeing as it’s already Thursday. Still, it’ll be a massive blow; The Last of Us: Part 2 is one of the last major PS4-exclusives on the horizon, and it’s been a long time coming.

The news isn’t official yet, and Sony didn’t respond to a request for comment yesterday, but Kotaku has heard from two people familiar with goings-on at Naughty Dog that the game is bumped to spring. We expect an announcement this week.

Confirmed for May 2020, at least for now:

To our fans,

Let me cut to the chase and get the news out of the way. The Last of Us Part II has a new release date of May 29, 2020.

I know. It was just about a month ago when we had our big blowout for the game, letting media play over two hours of it along with debuting our new story trailer and revealing the release date. The positive response we saw from our community was overwhelming. You can feel the energy among the team members. After working on something for so many years, it’s invigorating to get a glimpse of validation for all the hard work.

However, it was during the last few weeks, as we were closing out sections of the game, that we realized we simply didn’t have enough time to bring the entire game up to a level of polish we would call Naughty Dog quality. At this point we were faced with two options: compromise parts of the game or get more time. We went with the latter, and this new release date allows us to finish everything to our level of satisfaction while also reducing stress on the team.

While we’re relieved that we won’t have to compromise our vision, we’re disappointed that we weren’t able to avoid this exact situation. We wish we could’ve foreseen the amount of polish we needed, but the size and scope of this game got the better of us. We hate disappointing our fans and for that we’re sorry.

We hope you understand that this additional time ensures that The Last of Us Part II lives up to our collective ambition as well as our commitment to the highest level of quality. We know the extra few months will add to what may already be an excruciating wait for all of us. We are grateful for your patience and continued support. Come next May, you will finally rejoin Ellie in The Last of Us Part II.

-Neil

I'm fine with the delay if it makes the game better, to many games are releasing full of bugs and we end up having to wait weeks if not more before everything gets all ironed out. Now it releases the day before my birthday :)

I’m ok with that...did find it strange that they never posted a “gone gold” post, makes sense now. Wonder if the ps5 had anything to do with it?

Crackdown 3 delayed numerous times - "Game is doomed, canceled, another Scalebound"
The Last of Us 2 delayed numerous times - "It's ok, we will wait as long as it takes for polish and less bugs"

Dreams?

Guess that means GoT will be pushed too, that game looked glitchy up the yin yang, with its animations...I won’t get it though

I will get GoT if it has a lower difficulty option.

Possibly the first and only time anyone will ever compare Crackdown to TLOU

This is TLOU2's only delay so I don't know why anyone would compare it to CD3 (I know it wasn't you) considering that game had a couple of announced release dates changed and even changed developers none of whom were really well known for doing great work. ND is known for quality and yes most of their games get delayed once before release including the original TLOU which was delayed a month from it's originally announced date, anyone trying to compare the situations as if they are the same is asinine.

From what I've read he mostly in charge of the cinematics and the interactive cinematic moments not so much regular gameplay. He's only been with ND for a couple of games, he's also worked on AC3 and some Mass Effect games.

Terrible. I've only bought 3 or 4 games all this year and have nothing to look forward to until the middle of next year.

This is one of the few games that even stands a chance at dethroning RDR2 as my game of gen.
