The Last Of Us Series Clicks It’s Way To HBO Max - Season 2 Delayed Cos Pedro Pascal In High Demand

I'm halfway through. My wife can't stay awake past 9:30 so I'll finish the rest tonight.

So far it is good, but I don't know if I'd put it in the "great" category compared to other television and movies I have seen. I think it would have more impact if I wasn't so familiar with the story.
It is basic stuff. Nothing amazing at all. Isn't bad, but all this overhyping is hilarious.

There is no curse. Just idiots not respecting the source material. I mean look at Halo, that should have been a space opera super hit, but they ignored everything good and wrote crap instead. Resident Evil is supposed to be survival horror, but they turned it into a super hero movie.

Same can be said for movie remakes too.

They aren't easy to translate. Arcane is used as a good example and they just took the setting and did their own thing. The IP could be stripped out of it and it would still work. Halo provides very little that makes into an obviously good show unless you are adapting its books. Not to mention that it needs a pretty big budget.

TLOU works in part because they hired really talented people which most (all?) video game adaptions don't but also a lot of the heavy lifting is already done. They can film some of the scenes 1:1 and they will work which isn't really something you can say about most games.

It would need a big budget, but look at the s*** you get when you try to cheap out. If you aren't prepared to put the money in to do it right then don't do it at all.

Last of Us is basic story telling. Easy to adapt.

I really enjoyed it, you can tell a lot of work was put into it and they didn't go cheap. It helps when the people who are making the show actually respect the source material. The changes that were made work better for tv and I really liked that we got to spend more time with Sarah here than we did in the game. The actress who played her part was really likeable and I thought did a great job.

I really never understand it. All the source material is there for them. All they have to do use is it. Seems like a no brainer to me.

with their next ip it’s lovecraft horror action in space?

Well, Cthulhu is everywhere so that would be do-able to have some space action.. Then we could throw in some Colonial Marines and get Vasqueze versus Deep Ones!

Well they did already state that they cut one key element to the story, because covid…. IFYKYK

Spores and mask
Did they say that's why? pretty sure they don't want to have to shoot with masks on the actors all the time lol. It's another change that makes sense for tv.

This why typical viewer numbers need to be scrapped.

Here in the UK we don't get HBO Max so their stuff is usually on Sky Atlantic, but if Sky viewed their viewership the usual way the numbers would be poor. Not too mention that those with 4K TV's likely download the episode via on demand for UHD. I know I did.

So it's caused by...

Flour

The show had the 3 main characters avoid it at the start for one reason or another to the point it felt like the show was hitting you over the head with it.

Did they ever explain what started it in the games?
