The Mandalorian: A Star Wars Series - UPDATE Season 4 Confirmed

Great episode, kept thinking Timothy Olyphants character was gonna turn on him the entire time.

Gonna be a fun season boys!!!
Very mild episide s2e2 spoiler, but...

My wife thought at the end that The Child was feeling bad about eating the frog lady's eggs and I was thinking he felt bad that he couldn't eat more of them and sure enough, that cute little bastardo slurped another one down.

Anyone ride think we’re getting hints at possible “rebels” characters with what has been “shown” in these last two episodes?

Yeah. I think Sabine is coming. The graffiti you see in the one of the shots looked very like hers. Plus the fact that Gideon has the Dark Sabre.

Asoka is coming!! :bang::bang:

I really thought one of the Mandalorians was going to be Sabine. Oh well. She still might make an appearance.
Great to see them sticking with Katee Sackhoff to play Bo-Katan given she did the voice for that character in Clone Wars.

This show is so freaking good. Far and away my favorite thing from the Star Wars franchise since the original trilogy. Loving the new season, the action sequences have beeen better than pretty much everything from the last 5 years of movies. Hallelujah for a singular vision and direction from the show runners, rather than the "movie by committee" mess we've had under Disney's reign.

What's interesting to me, is that all 3 trilogies have a different feel, yet this show somehow has all of them combined, plus a bit of Clone Wars. I still don't know exactly how they managed to tie all of this very different aesthetics together. I was not expecting that at all. The show goes from wild west to practical ships, to some great CGI, to puppets. It's like Star Wars in a blender. That and the new Volume screen technology is the game changer that makes it possible, but I think we all know that the dynamic duo of Feloni and Favreau are just everything that Star Wars needed.

In short, the show seemed like it was a low-pressure idea to bring Star Wars to a TV format, but it ended up being the main attraction. The 2nd smartest thing Kathleen Kennedy did was dial back the terrible idea of a new Star Wars movie every year. Star Wars was on a collision course, and she knew it. Her hiring Favreau was obviously the best thing she has done, and Favreau already worked with Feloni on Clone Wars, so the rest just fell into place.

I think it would be a good time to let this duo take over completely. I know that Lucas had picked her originally, but I think he knows that they both get Star Wars more than anyone. I think that she probably knows that too.

And Rebels :) but I think Filoni is the reason we’re getting that intertwined feeling

I think it's Feloni with the writing, but Favreau with the aesthetic, and they are now blending together.

...and I meant originally. Feloni had never directed live action before. Their creative skill sets have complimented each other perfectly, but they're both learning to do each other's skills too.

Didn't know Favreau worked on Clone Wars, that's pretty cool!

As far as last episode goes, I liked it. Was cool to see them follow up with lab testing for Baby Yodas blood even if it was f***ed up.

I'm still getting caught up on them, but he was the voice of Pre Vizsla, leader of The Death Watch in Clone Wars. He also played Paz Vizsla in live-action in the first season of Mando.

Side note: With Favreau being a filmmaker, I wonder if he's the one that came up with his character's name Pre Vizsla in CW. It's an uncanny reference to the Hollywood term pre-viz (previsualization) that happens in filmmaking... Quite interesting turn of events that Favreau is the one revolutionizing previsualization for the entire movie industry with "The Volume", which he started working on with The Jungle Book, putting real-time Unreal Engine graphics behind an actor, as opposed to a blue or green screen.

I had a feeling that it was gonna be a Filoni directed episode as soon as Ahsoka was confirmed, but there were many times before the credits came up where I doubted it. There was just too much atmosphere and Kirasawa influence in this episode for a an animated show director.... Nope, his name did come up after, and he absolutely knocked it out of the park! Only Deborah Chow had episodes this good last season, but they never quite went to this level of fandom, either! Daum!

Bryce Dallas Howard's episode with Bo-Katan was already so better than her episode last season (although both were strangely set in fishing villages). Still, Filoni's episodes last season... well S1/Ep 1 was pretty good, and set everything in motion; but that 5th episode "The Gunslinger" was my least favorite of the whole series so far. It was the least cinematic, and most melodramatic, IMO.

That said, I was EXTREMELY surprised how professional this episode was handled! The guy is going to be able to direct a full SW movie now, without a doubt. I'm gonna go ahead and say that he's already a better director than George Lucas ever was. Remember that Empire and Jedi (V&VI) were not directed by GL.

Let me also say that this composer has absolutely just crushed it this season! He's just so good with his take on the SW vibe, while being so creative, and not going full SW most of the time. This episode had some mad John Williams cues, though!

Yeah, the funny thing is that like two minutes before I said something like "I wonder who her master is", but didn't really get into it more than than because my wife said she thought it was going to be Gideon. My reaction at the actual reveal was audible and visual and I had to explain who he was too my wife, who's in this for Baby Yoda but not into the whole extended universe.
