Hollywood keeps using questionable people in charge and it's the same people that then makes the decisions to fire their own ilk.
In this country freedom of speech is guaranteed, however consequences of said speech come with it. If I came out and posted about how I hate (insert thing here) I could absolutely be fired for it. Private companies have every right to do so, especially when it paints them in a bad light.
I don't think whoever made this call cares either way they just don't want the bad PR
