Nintendo missing the biggest event is so Nintendo

Not really. Nintendo's been skipping E3 for a couple of years now in lue of their smaller treehouse events and Nintendo Directs. Seems like more of the same.

If the NX is not at E3, I guess we can't count on NX games being announced...

E3 is no longer the biggest event. Companies are dropping out left and right.

That may be true. But I want to see it now.

I'm sure they'd be at E3 if they had games to show, some rumors are that they still haven't sent out dev kits to many 3rd parties, not saying I believe that but it is going around.

Nice to know we have a date. So that's a year away. ... wonder when the reveal will be. (edit: "sometime later this year")

Apparently they came out and said it's launching in March so there are actually games on launch you'll be interested in playing.

Launching in March means missing two of the most profitable months, November and December. Nintendo never thinks about things from a business standpoint.

Blows my mind that they never took the WiiU down to $199. I guess that tablet really held them back on a cost basis and they refused to lose money on the system. Heck, I'd have bought one if they dumped the tablet and included a classic controller. With that kind of setup they may have been able to offer the console for $150 by now and I bet you they could have moved a fair number of units.

I wonder if Zelda will be a launch title. That'd be sweet. That'd kick start NX sales.

That will mean nothing if the demand is higher than the supply, like it was with the original Wii. Couldn't find one until March the following year.

It is like a repeat of the original Wii....I am a longtime Nintendo and Zelda fan but at this point I just don't care anymore.

You mean the original Wii that sold like gangbusters? That original Wii?

Oh yeah, the Wii gave us the 2 greatest 3D Mario games ever. I say bring it on. New Zelda and Mario Galaxy 3 at launch would be amazing.

So Nintendo is just banking on the idea that people will just flock to their new console with little to no effort on their part to ensure its sales performance. That too sounds like Nintendo's lack of business common sense.

I already said earlier in the thread that the reason they are launching in March is so there are games worth a damn at launch. That's business common sense if I ever heard it.

I don't blame them for wanting to wait until they have games ready but I do blame them for announcing the console over a year ago and still not having a single thing to show.

Games that will more than likely already be at least 3-4 months old on other consoles.

People can forget about the system being solid for core sports games too. Nintendo already faced an uphill battle in this genre but a March release date pretty much kills their chance in this area.

So we are probably going to see a lineup that consists largely of already released multiplatform games and Wii U remakes (like Smash Bros.). All of this outside of the Holiday season. I'm sorry but it's pretty crazy in my opinion.

Sony didnt have any issues releasing their PS4 without any games (Knack, Killzone lol) a few Christmases ago.

Holidays trump having games for sales.

Plus, if they are sitting on a Zelda release that would be more than enough.

It's going to be a launch game, that's why Zelda has been delayed until next year.
Is that case unless the console looksoke it's going to be terrible, I'll probably get it at launch.
