The Outer Worlds - Spacers Choice Edition Coming March 7th

Do you need yo leave it on New Zealand till tomorrow to keep playing?

Worked all day. Just getting into it now. Psst I remember you. ;)

The toggle history option during dialog is great. Always getting distracted.
Watched that IGN review and am immediately expecting this to be better than Fallout 4 because of dialogue options alone.

Oh and I 'memba you too

I played it last night. I've only got a few hours in but I'm in the process of clearing my weekend plans to dedicate more time to it. Humor is on point and so are the game mechanics. Graphics/art style is hitting all the right notes as well.

How was the overall feel to the game? Controls tight or was it kinda clunky like most Fallouts?

It feels great. Less clunky than Fallout and much smaller in map size.

Right now I'm trying to get to this Zoe who disappeared. I think I need to finish some other quests and come back to it. I failed this quest thrice already.

I didn't notice any clunk, but usually unless the controls are god awful I don't really notice it. I am playing with controller on my PC, though, which means it's probably not a good representation of the normal console or PC experience.

Would the game be fun if you were not all that interested in the dialog decisions?

The game controls pretty tight the gunplay feels a bit floaty so not the strongest point, the stealth parts are pretty hard but there are multiple paths and ways around things.

Soooo much loot which is cool, the dialogue plays a big part of the game and is well written too.

No
Game is a poor mans fallout in every way except story. Both main and sidequests are far better, but otherwise it's worse imo.
It's fun though, the whole firefly styled western scifi is cool and feels fresh.

Tiny text is tiny and the UI is confusing at first, not crazy about how compare works and stuff like that but overall I am enjoying it...combat is kinda hard at first, died a bunch of time, even on normal but its getting ''easier'' now with better guns and armor...and a companion(Pavarti).

Really whish this had HDR,it would look so much better in 4K...the overall artstyle and colorful graphics makes it look good but textures and lighting are a little low or something...

Had fun at the launch party yesterday! Got a signed poster, pin, and a frisbee. :)

Yeah, closer to fallout 3 than 4 graphically.
Playing on an OG Xbox One and I think it looks pretty good for what it is. Looks like an updated version of New Vegas, which is all I wanted personally.

So happy dialogue options are back. Missed them so much in fallout 4 and 76

I played for about an hour this morning. Long enough to create my character and check out some of the first area.

Want to dive more into this. Has some aspects of Star Wars KOTOR 2 and Fallout I loved. Looking forward to playing more.

Graphics look fine.

Yeah, new Vegas looks bad today (and semi ok at release) though lol.
I agree, it's first time in years that I haven't skipped dialogue responses after the initial hour.

My thoughts exactly. Game play feels like Borderlands too. Which is a bummer for me because I've never been a fan of Borderlands. Unless you like stealing food and ammo, stealth is useless imo.

Oh and the game looks a lot better when Chromatic aberration is disabled and with reshade's sharpening enabled to fix the blurriness that is TAA.

I'm a lot further in now. I think the best way to describe it is similar to how I describe Remedy's games - if you like Obsidian's games, you'll like this game. If you're not a fan of them, you might not. I am of course loving it, and already looking forward to another playthrough as a totally insane homicidal maniac.

Yeah, deeper in. Collected all the companions and done a few of their quests.
I must say, when at hub worlds (for a lack of a better name), the game is so much better than what any 3d fallout game ever have been. It's beautiful, the voice acting, quests, layout of levels etc is among the best I've ever played this gen, right up there with deus ex. But... the open world areas outside of towns are... not great, their okay to bad looking (both graphically and aesthetically) and the gunplay elements behave much worse when there's elevation and longer distances at play. Here's where fallout excels and you almost feel like you've not given fallout 4 the praise it should've gotten at release for this.
But, as said, OW is a masterpiece in quests and story, it's what keeps me playing it past midnight when I should've gone to bed hours ago.

It's a good game, but it's missing something else to make it "special" though. Swede alluded to it a little. I'm already on the third hub world and it feels like the game has shown me everything it has to show. I'll def finish it. Hoping it grabs me more as I continue.

Yeah... I'm about 15-20h in and at this point I think if it's finished within the 25h mark it's fine. This isn't fallout sized and that's okay.
It's missing things here and there (ie more customization, less empty open world areas) but a sequel to this with higher budget will hopefully make it soar like an eagle imo.
Haven't looked into the ip ownership...? Sequel would be xbox/pc exclusive?

"When approaching the subject surrounding making a series an Xbox exclusive, Booty explained that it depends on if it suits the franchise and whether it would benefit from being open to all platforms, or be better supported by the resources Xbox can put into it. Booty explained that he believes The Outer Worlds could be a franchise "

Ugh. Its not Obsidian if you don't hit a game breaking bug. I was working on a companion quest only for it to auto-fail because the companion in question dies while in the ship while I'm talking to her. Apparently on the obsidian forums, its a well known bug.
