Stay warm brother! We're supposed to get hit with another ice storm on Thursday with potential snow Friday morning as well. Do not like.
I had to make an ice/snow shovel out of 20' of 1 1/4" pvc pipe and cut a 4" pvc pipe in half for the shovel part to get this garbage off the roof. I just cleaned off 2" thick ice over the weekend and now it's 3" thick ice with 6" of snow on top of that... We're also getting another ice event in the middle of the week. This year can burn in hell.
Ice is just nasty no matter where you're from. Up north we sort of chuckle at the south being perplexed by a few inches of snow, but ice shuts anyone down.
There's not much you can do for an ice storm other than hunker down until it melts and hope your power stays on. Been without power in storms in the past for 6 days and it isn't fun. I'll drive through a foot of snow no problem, but mention a half inch or more of ice and I'm not leaving. It is just too dangerous.

I’m at work. Roads were not too bad this morning, but it’s rain/ice mixed right now all day then going to be below 32 again tonight.
Roads have cleared up here. Now we are probably going to lose water in town today. Grocery stores are wiped out of everything. At least our stations still have gas.
Actually, the other day, I went to pick up food, and I still had to sign the receipt. I got into the car and was about to use the hand sanitizer, but the food was a finger food and didn't want to smell the sanitizer and wanted to wait until I got home to wash with soap and water. So, two minutes into the drive, I picked. I remembered I didn't use the hand sanitizer and this was my reaction...
Man, I remember spending $160+ a month on a beeper plan. I had one of those boss Motorola pagers that got the news, sports, everything. I remember after I reduced my plan like two years later to not include the news and sports, I would still get it. They didn't have a way to turn it off.
The only kids in school that had pagers here were drug sellers...
Even though I only have a $150 phone, I'm still amazed at what they're capable of combining so much in such a small device. Infinitely more powerful than my first PC I bought in 2002.

Texas already back in the 70’s. Now everybody scrambling to fix all the water and plumbing problems. All stores that have plumbing supplies are wiped out. My uncle hasn’t had water since last Monday.
Are the water companies private down there too? Our water comes from the city around here.
Inside the city limits yes the city takes care of it. Outside of the city limits then everyone deals with it themselves. A lot of have their own water wells. Biggest problem is the people that rent homes or apartments waiting on landlords getting it all fixed. I know a lot of people that are still without water.

You shouldn't be swearing in the first place. That stuff is bad.
SLPT: Don't do this and turn the heat down so the pipes burst and then your landlord has to replace everything for free 8D
Protip when it gets cold - run a trickle of warm water through everything when it gets super cold to keep pipes from freezing. The extra water costs will be nothing compared to all the damage a burst pipe can cost.
