Speaking of Evergreen what exactly happened? I’ve seen jokes and memes everywhere but haven’t taken the time to look up what actually happened.

This makes me think of how Marvel lost me. I was a fan of the HULK comics way back and was really into Dale Keown's artwork and Peter David's writing. They worked it up to this crazy idea of Banner real core problem being Multiple Personality Disorder. They had this surreal session where they merged him into a whole person.
For me it isn't even story, it is simply finding an arc to read from start to finish. It is just too much. It would be like if they sold video games by the mission, suddenly you'd be faced with 1000 separate Assassins Creed missions and no clue where to start. It is a challenge to even find a series of items along the same arc.

Just got an old Naomi cab delivered, must be the worst yellowing I've ever seen lol
Thought about trying to brighten it but the hassle with chemicals etc turns me off, prob take it apart and spray paint it.
Virtua Tennis cart inside, prob put a rpi instead, already have a cab with all naomi games via netboot so I don't feel bad about going emulation with this.Screenshot_20210403-111319_Gallery.jpg

I can only speak for myself, but as a former kid who loved Marvel comics and an adult who loves the movies now, I don't read comics only because everything is so confusing and expensive.

If you search a random super hero on Amazon you'll get countless hits. just search Captain America. Where do you start? You obviously want to follow a particular story arc and good luck sorting through all that.

I went looking for some of the comics I read as a kid, basically the old school GI Joe stuff and I either can't find them, or if I do they are multiple dollars for a digital version of a single comic (that back in the day cost pocket change). Even then there's multiple releases of the same thing, often in different sized bundles. Once they had a sale and I bought a bunch of comics digitally dirt cheap and I ended up with a mish mosh of stuff, some of which ended in the middle of stories, others that were complete.

I even have a Comoxology subscription through Amazon and it is still super confusing. It gives me a headache to even figure out where to start. Again too you run into paywalls, and paying a few bucks for a comic can add up in a hurry, considering you can read a comic in minutes.

I'm not sure if it is just me, but I doubt it. It seems this stuff has been re-booted and re-released so many times now that it is all over the place.

At one point I had stumbled upon some of the Vision comics that was sort of what the recent TV show was based on, but I don't know if I could even find that arc again.

I'm sure I would love it if someone could guide me through it, but the whole damn thing gave me a headache.
Simple, manga are really like one really long one shot, usually contained in only one universe. Comics are multiverse, and they have their own one-shots/what-ifs.

if you need to quickly find info there’s fandom/wikias out there or you could check out this link https://m.youtube.com/user/fluidicbeats

So do your bros come over and play Virtua Tennis or are you out in the garage just grinding it out?
This cabinet doesn't fit in my guesthouse.
There's already a modded arcade1up and another Naomi cabinet with every Naomi game released on og hardware, including virtua Tennis 1/2 up there... So we game there, also that's were all my consoles and projector are.
I only set this cab up in the garage for the modding aspect, still not sure if I'm going to sell it after I'm done lol

Do you restore a lot of these old machines? And if you do sell them do you make any money off of them or do you usually take a loss?

Not really, I've gone through about half a dozen.
The Sega Naomi Universal with og hardware, a crt and non modded will sell for about $500-900 depending on condition.
I probably would get closer to $1000 after paint job and a retropie solution.... Prob make around $600 on this if I sell it, but it's a s*** load of work for the rpi and new sticks and buttons etc, so I'm not sure if I want to let it go lol

He basically saying what I have been saying, but on video. I have not been on facebook for years, & twitter for a while & never felt happiler.

There is a side of me that thinks that China's internet censorship has a lot to do with what they see happening in America and how bats*** crazy we've become besides other nefarious reasons.

If you ban these platforms, is that in itself censorship?

For a while more in regards to Broadcasting, America tried the Fairness Doctrine, but overtime the effective power of that law was cut down. The idea was to require presenting the opposing view in opinion based programming.

I've wondered if a kind of Fairness Doctrine Algorithm directing content could change the direction of how 'opinion / news' is shown on social media.

I'd be all for banning facebook and twitter, current society can't handle it and it's bringing out the worst in so many people.

Blaming Facebook and Twitter for a problem is not the right way to go. People are the problem, not the technology. Technology is just the tool. If there's something you don't like in your feed, that's on you. I love my twitter feed. I follow the stuff I want to follow, mostly sports and video games. I don't have twitter drama, because I don't go out and find twitter drama.

Social media is a mirror into society and people. Break the mirror and you still have terrible people doing terrible things. I hate to tell you, but there's not a lot of brainwashing going on. Many people are just awful people who never had an outlet for it.

Yup. Twitter is my favorite social media platform because of the way I've curated it. Sports, games, comedy, and general entertainment is about all I follow with some politics sprinkled in, specifically big news outlets. I get genuinely good laughs out of it and enjoy the content a lot.

Just because some people use the platform to fuel whatever s*** they want doesn't mean you have to (or should) pay attention to it.

I'm also of the belief that we shouldn't shut down Q s*** and what not because censorship is a dangerous road whether or not you agree with the content. I don't agree personally, but that doesn't mean we should shut it down. Unless it's pedophilia or crime related (Christchurch shooting, manifestos, etc) then yeah absolutely remove that crap. I think moderation is key, but that's way easier said than done.

inb4 someone reeeeee's at me for not wanting to censor everything

Aside from the News or Ads, it's interesting to compare the online experience between Social Media and Internet Forums. I think the Facebook Newsfeed, Timeline, or whatever is a fvcked up way to have a discussion. Or at least a serious discussion, it's mostly okay for casual social things, but gets weird with politics and probably religion.

I also think some people 'Friend' all the contacts and create a new bizarre situation where social circles bump into each other that normally wouldn't like Family, Friends, and Work. Now you're boss and co-workers may bump into activity from your social life.

One thing that irritates me is I think the Facebooks Groups used to have a Forum function but that disappeared. I found this tutorial dated from 2012 describing how to do it. It seems like Facebook prefers people stuck in the continuous News Feed format.

Big problem with back and forth discussion on Facebook is it eventually will turn into an attack on the other user that generally has nothing to do with the original discussion. Generally it's by a third party person who's upset that their belief is being challenged and can't handle it. I've seen good discussion on there, but it almost always ends up going south due to dumb people.

I do think you're onto something though with the whole forum aspect of it as there's still a basis of anonymity, even though we all kinda know who each other are based on usernames and this community being a thing for 20 years now.

If you write a long post on Facebook, the bottom will be cutoff. You can click to see the rest, but I wonder if people skip that and jump into replies.

I also think that since Facebook is a scrolling wall News Feed, people are more likely to do impulse posting.

One theory that interests me is we're witnessing the benefits of Mass Printing and Literature kind of going backwards in this strange media environment. People start to behave more and more like the days of Oral Tradition which is a lot like village gossip. It sometimes also feels like an extension of belligerent Talk Radio.

Social networks have to do this balance where they have to give people a platform, but then not advance their s***ty views. People pretend it's a "both sides" thing when one is progressive and the other is atrocious and at some point you're just gonna piss people off no matter what you do. I remember that would happen all the time on the forums. Like, I get this person is a beloved poster, but they also posted f***ing pornography in a popular forum, so they have to be banned. Or they were being an a****** to people. Or they were dragging down the quality of these other forums. And then we have to ban their sock puppets. I remember I was that moderator a******. Facebook can do all this through algorithms and s***, you just gradually get groomed out of other people's feeds for this reason or that. Social networks allow for nuance because they're so damn big.

Social networks also aren't the place to have lengthy, multi-reply, multi-day threads because things have to move, you can't stay behind, it's counter-intuitive. Maybe you can on Reddit, but even that moves a lot faster than any forum I've ever been on. Honestly, I think that's for the best. Getting consume for hours for days on end replying to someone down to sentences or words is a f***ing train wreck. We complain about how Facebook and Twitter give racists a place to exist, but I look back at using web forums over 20 years and I see where hardcore edgelords who mise for weeks over the destruction of their foes in communities that are barely connected to reality and we see the dark places where 4chans and Q can develop. At least with social networks there's a kind of public-facing wind shear that can blow the disguise off a bunch of that.

I've seen things, man.

I so f***ing hate thieves.
My bank alerted me to the fact that some dick used my debit card to pay for motorcycle gear and shoes from Foot Locker in New York.

They also tried to use Venmo to transfer funds.

Almost $400 in charges that they luckily caught early.
