VaLLiancE and anyone else with tech knowledge: With the ‘3D audio’ and whatever else they are calling the audio capabilities of next-gen, what are the requirements for a receiver to take full advantage of it?

What about speakers? Do you need special Atmos enabled speakers? I seen a good way to get it is to find some upward firing speakers but can't seem to find many in my area.

from what I know, little really, is you could do two things.1 use speakers with dedicated with additional directional speakers or 2 use your own separate set ... granted you need a receiver that supports Atmos

Anyone ever checked out the Marantz SR6013? I was thinking about picking one up. Seems to get good reviews.

Quoting bullzeye here, but any suggestions on speakers? And any other current receiver suggestions?

I’m in the early stages of building a new man-cave, so I need suggestions on everything.

Unfortunately I don't live in the US so I can't take advantage of any good deals so I'll wait until some prices come down, I'm looking at about 1400 for something half decent atm which is a bit much.

I picked up a slightly used one from a guy on Facebook marketplace who was needing money because he is out of work. He was asking $450. I didn't try to haggle with him because I kind of felt bad he was in that situation. He let me check it out before buying and it sounded great. He has some Klipsch speakers that I am thinking about buying also.

Grab two pairs of these for your mains and surrounds:

Matching center here:

For atmos speakers I can't recommend these enough:

Those JBL Studio 5 series speakers won't last long at that price. I'm generally a KEF fan, but this legendary line-up from JBL are the BEST sounding HT speakers I've ever heard, period. If you have the funds, step up to the Studio 590 towers which are also on sale at the moment. You'll need a powerful receiver or seperate amp to drive these low sensitivity speakers. Accessories4less.com is a great place to purchase discounted receivers and speakers from...never had a problem with them.

i was about to post those, I got the center and it’s fantastic, love it.

if I didn’t have my 600m’s (which i got for the same price new) I’d totally buy those 530’s

If you can put speakers in the ceiling for ATMOS, do that. It was alot of trouble, but I dont regret it one bit.

I said b4 and I'll say it again....
Don't buy a AVR in 2020 if you want HDMI 2.1.

Yea I was worried about my 2.1-less AVR but guess I'll be fine with the Series X directly into the TV and audio over ARC.

Hey all I got myself a new surround system! Got a pioneer vsx 304 and polk audio surround.

I'm currently a little drunk experimenting with the subwoofer, just listening to some DNB the thing that's driving me crazy is the bass sounds better when I'm standing up moving around the room as opposed to sitting down, I haven't done a proper calibration as it took a couple nights to setup all the speakers.

I guess what I'm getting at is how does everyone place their subwoofers? I've read so many conflicting theories and blah blah, it's currently in a corner slightly off parallel with the walls with a foam pad underneath, placing on the hardwood floors makes no difference.

I guess it sounds a bit more balanced in the sitting position as opposed to sitting at my table which is close to the sub but sounds pretty banging. Love the new system it's insane.

they say the best place to put your sub is to first put it where you’d sit and then crawl around the floor to see where you hear and feel it the most....
