There isn't so much information about the film as of yet, but I am sure we will talk about this pages after pages for the next 2 years and over. So I decided to make a thread, so hopefully, all SW7 posts will gather here.

Today's news: Michael Arndt's screenplay credit is replaced by the director himself and (gasp) Lawrence Kasdan.

Ardnt is one of my favorite screenplayers so having him replaced is sad, but when the replacement is Lawrence Kasdan? I'm interested.

This could be called Revenge of the Peanut Butter Sandwich for all I care.. I can't wait for a new Star Wars.

Just please, please please no Jar Jar or token comedic crap like the "droid speak" from the last three

Screw that. Make the movie about Jar Jar banging Princess Leia and having them half-human/half-gungan babies and the droids become the babysitters. In order for this movie to be any good, it's gonna need an ass load of Jar Jar.

hehe... you said assload.

Really though.. the comedic crap (slapstick anyway) has to be cut out. In the old trilogy, it was situational humor, not forced. Droids saying "roger roger" and moaning when killed? Stupid. Jar Jar? Horribly offensive to my ears (not in a racial or other way, just freaking annoying).

It needs to be more serious in tone, foreboding like Empire... not a camp fest like EP1-3

Honestly, I don't really care. I'm always a fan of slapstick and Jar Jar just never annoyed me. Certainly not to the point in which his reputation has proceeded him. Now I love him because he's become the ultimate under dog to me. It's him against the world and I hope to god he whoops some Boba Fett ass just to see people leap out of their seats in anger.

I didn't mind the humor in episodes 4-6, however, I can't stand Jar Jar Stinks. Episode VII will be a good movie regardless if he's absent from it...

Not sure how excited I am about this. OG trilogy was amazing but the newest was meh, except for Revenge of the Sith which had its moments.

I think this new film is in good hands. Looking forward to what they come up with and what casting they are going with.

Well looks like JJ and crew wanna push the release back to give them more time to make a better film and the CEO said no must be summer 2015. Disney cash in confirmed smh...

It's no way Jar Jar will be in SW7. He must be really, really, really old if he shows up. He is old enough to be Luke's great, great, grand-father if I follow the timeline correctly.

No. Jar Jar is only 10 years older than Anakin I think. Around there? *shrugs - smokebomb*

But you have to think about it: if SW6 leads to SW7 (story-wise) with Luke later having Kids, then Jar Jar will be very old. I can't see Jar Jar living that long myself, though. What we don't know is when the timeline takes place in SW7 events. If the director decides to have a story about Luke along with the kids, then Jar Jar would be either dead or very old.

At the very least Jar Jar is as old as Obi Wan, so by the time Ep7 starts he must be very old or dead. Though, if JJ and Kasdan wants to start off the movie by killing every single Gungan including Jar Jar for the sake of nerdgasm, I have no complaints.

Jar Jar Binks would have been 56 by the end of Return Of The Jedi.
It's not clear how long Gungans live for though.

Absolutely correct. Let us use the Expanded Universe Timeline to setup this movie. Luke should be in his 60's while his Son is probably.. 19, and Jaina (Han and Leia's Daughter) would be pushing into her late 30's. Jar Jar would be 100 if he is still alive (there is no mention of him in the EU so.. *whistles*). Boba Fett is 80 something years old and he still runs around kicking ass. The way people age in the SW universe is ... strange, hah.

At least Leia should be a Jedi in Episode 7. Old ass Carrie Fisher, they better all be on some crazy workout routine to shape up like Sly, haha.

AFAIK JJ Abrams doesn't get to decide anything. He has to work within Lucas' concept to finish the Skywalker Saga. Supposedly 7 8 9 will be the final Episodic entries and everything will branch out after that.

Cooooooorrreeeeeect! Just have Naboo struck by the Death 30, lol.

AFAIK - and that's the way it should be - Lucas had treatments, but Arndt and Kinberg were at freedom to fledge the script to add bunch of details that Lucas never had. And then even that was severely altered by JJ and Kasdan, so I say Star Wars as of now is almost entirely free of George Lucas's evil hand. That said, hooray. Now only if the release date is pushed back a little to give filmmakers a little more time...

It isn't a hooray for fans like myself that have been following the Expanded Universe in the absence of Film content. The only thing that made Star Wars a unique franchise was that its canon was all encompassing.

Once they stated that Legacy was an alternate what-if future, I knew some shady retcon action was going to take place. As long as Chewbacca is dead, Luke is a Widow and Han/Leia only have 1 of 3 children. I'll go along with what they decide.

I'm hoping they retcon the EU out of existence. The only thing i'd like to see them keep are jaina and jacen as the twins, but everything else including what becomes of those two I hope is removed.

I especially disliked the Vong series, but at least at the end the path that Jacen took as a seeker of the Unifying Force seemed so interesting, transcendental even, but then to see where they took him with the Darth Caedus nonsense made me finally just give up on ever following the EU again.

Yea, I was disappointed in what happened with Caedus. His desperation was reminiscent of Anakin Skywalker but he didn't have to push everyone away. At least he unified the Galaxy against the impending arrival of Darth Krayt.

The part of the EU I dislike greatly is the Dark Empire saga.. it makes no sense *weep* What about the Dark Nest Trilogy? BLEGITY BLAH! hahaha

Ah, Dec 18. Not sure if I will be able to watch it in theater during PEAK season (my job requires me to work 60hrs per week). Probably will watch it after DEC is done.

J.J. Abrams: Star Wars Episode VII Script Done; They Did Meet with Jesse Plemons

J.J. Abrams was on hand at today's TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour to promote his upcoming NBC series with Gravity's Alfonso Cuaron, Believe. While there he gave some brief updates on the progress of Star Wars Episode VII, saying that the script is complete and the are "full steam ahead" and in "deep pre-production."

The director also confirmed recent reports that he had met with Breaking Bad's creepy villain next door, Todd, actor Jesse Plemons. "He was one of the people we spoke with," Abrams said. "It's not often that I'm reading about actors I'm meeting. I read articles about meeting with actors and then when I see them it's like, 'Oh, I read I'm going to be meeting with you!' It's usually agents talking with people about things."

The story better be good!! We all know that million of fans are having a high hope for this movie.

Filming will begin in May!

via USA Today

PASADENA, Calif. -- Star Wars fans can raise their anticipation levels. Director J.J. Abrams said Sunday that he has a completed script for the next film in the popular series and will begin shooting in May in England.

"That's the current plan," Abrams said while stopping by the Television Critics Association winter press tour to discuss Believe, a new NBC drama (March 10, 10 p.m. ET/PT) he is producing with Gravity director Alfonso Cuaron . "We have our script and we're full steam ahead. Have script, will travel."

I want 3-hour movie with full of actions. And less Flare that JJ is always putting in other movies! ;)

I'm gonna break those fingers!
Better storyline:

Jar Jar Binks walks into a cantina, owned by Han Solo. Binks stabs Solo's hand with a knife, smashes his other hand with hard glass, Chewbacca attempts to help, but gets shot dead in the process. Jar-Jar looks to Han and says, "Looksie like mesa the one who fired first this time Hannie."

Academy award worthy.
