Official Thread The Switch Thread

Zelda > Mario on switch, but I can see people picking Mario, it's much easier to get into and you can play it in 10 minute chunks and still enjoy it. Zelda takes more of your time, or at least more continual gaming chunks.
I do think Zelda gets the Nintendo magic best though and honestly would say it's prob the most magic Nintendo have given us since A Link to the past.
Ocarina Of Time > A Link To The Past

lol I haven't played it since probably 2002? But I've played that game start to finish probably 20+ times.
I recommend not playing it again, you'll prob cry lol
The same is true with Goldeneye, the controls are horrendous when you're used to today's standard dual analogs.

Yeah I have gone back and played that, because for some dumb reason girls LOVE Goldeneye on N64. Game sucks so bad now, but dual KLOBBs is still the GOAT

Played Link to the Past recently on the SNES mini I still like the game my only problem was the controls. Would probably play better on the Switch I saw it on the free SNES games that come with the Online subscription.

I haven’t played Ocarina of Time or Goldeneye since way back in the day. I’d like to play OOT again can you get it on Switch? I’ve seen it cheap for my sons 3DS almost bought it a couple times.

Titan Quest is a gem! I can't believe I never played this before, it's basically Diablo 2.5 in ancient Greece. On digital sale atm (at least here) .

I saw it on sale here too. I remember it being on PC years ago. Might give it a go after I’m done with Torchlight 2. I just wasn’t sure how good it was.

Been playing about 6 hours, it feels very much like diablo 2, I like the more realistic artstyle compared to diablo 3 that titan quest and D2 is going for. D3 feels to much WoW imo.

So that B2G1 deal at Target wasn't for any of the games I wanted to buy, so I ended up just buying Smash Brothers Ultimate on the E-Shop yesterday. Think I'll buy Mario Galaxy next and then call it until next paycheck (have some work I need done on my car).

But I do <3 my Switch. That seamless transition from Docked to Handheld mode is incredible.

Yeah I was surprised how much I love the thing. Well worth it. Not sure how long the catalog of games will keep me going (I’ve seen a lot I want to try) but my wife and kids play it daily.

Yeah I could see that. Mostly got it for exclusives and for entertainment purposes. It's just nice to be able to play Nintendo games for the first time since......2007?

Odyssey?

Yeah, it's prob the most played Nintendo console ever for me, they should keep this handheld/docked combo for next gen too. Imagine a ps4 specced switch for next gen, would be pretty amazing.

I haven’t played any newer Nintendo games since around the time of the Wii. Yes I hope they keep this set up (console/handheld) it’s perfect for the Nintendo brand and families.

I put some more hours in Zelda BOTW after work. After getting the glider, leaving the Great Plateau, this game really opens up and it is amazing the detail in this game. The world feels so alive I’ve spent most of my time exploring. My wife got hooked on this game as well this week she has already put 20+ hours into it lol.

Only gripe I have are the weapons breaking so easily. Weapons go quick in this game it gets annoying.

After putting more hours into Zelda last night (unlocking more towers and exploring) I wanted to go relax in bed and play some handheld mode so I started Torchlight 2. This game is perfect for handheld mode. The graphic style looks and runs nice, it controls well with just the joy cons attached since you only use the left stick, face buttons, and triggers, plus it is surprisingly deep and a lot of fun. If you enjoy Diablo style games highly recommend this.

I got to looking around on the eshop over the weekend. Can you not get older games from N64, GameCube, and previous handheld games on the Switch? Would be nice to play some of them in handheld mode.

No and in fact there was a string of threads on Reddit about this the other day, about how much money Nintendo could be losing by not releasing their old catalog through the e-shop. I'm sure it's BC hell, but still the amount of money they could pour in would be yuuuuge

N64 is perhaps the worst aged console ever made.
Saturn did 3d badly and didn't have dual analogs but has a huge library of incredible 2d games and rpgs that manage to make the console playable today. PS1 had dual analogs eventually. N64 was mostly 3d with one analog...... it's awkward as hell to play those games today, even the best game on the console (imo) , goldeneye, is unplayable today because of it.
My point is that to make n64 games playable (except emulation hell) they need to rethink the whole controller setup... on each and every game since no game really solved the issue and tried to make the best of the controller in their own way.
Gamecube, hell yes.

That’s strange they don’t have their older catalog of games on the eshop. I’d buy some I like, haven’t played in many years, or never got around to playing.

Seemed like only yesterday people were saying the switch would flop and would be their last system. Lol
