The UnionVGF Weightlifting/Workout Thread

A little late, but yes sir! Started at 200lbs and now down to 166. Tempted to bulk now, but I haven't been this lean in years. may push for another 6lbs to test the shredded look for a bit.
How tall are you if you don't mind me asking? I'm at 200 right now, but 6'3". I'd like to get down to around 175.

Yeah, it's the weight I was when I graduated high school. I'm looking to keep my weight down to take stress off my bad knee so I can keep playing basketball, not necessarily for any other reason.
Having degraded knees from decades of squatting heavy weight, 10lbs makes a difference on knees. When I get down to low 160's, 5'8" my legs feel better. When I'm mid 170's, my usual weight, my legs struggle running. Lots of tendinitis.

Good depth on that squat too, not ATG but really good.

Been doing some heavy rack pulls, around 450-475 lbs. I think its having some good effect on the traps/back.

So, been eating like a horse, prob around 5000 kcal/day, feels like all I do is eating lol.
Fluffy as hell and the definition is pretty much gone, but damn it feels great when working out. Can train for up to 2h without losing the pump lol.
180cm, 89kg, up from 75ish kg last time I checked in end of summer. Anyway, update pics on flabby, winter physique;

Damn, looking beast.

Been trying to up my calories since cutting, but my stomach shrunk or something. Can only hit 3500 on a good day. Any tips? (short of eating greasy hamburgers all day long).

Been working, but very very slowly.

Currently:

Looking great there, and doggy is back or different dog?
I'd say stay away from bread for one, that f***s up appetite and makes you full. Otherwise it's pretty much trying to eat smaller meals (or as big as you can without feeling sick) often, trying to get my calories up with 3 meals doesn't work for me but eating lots of protein (and carbs depending on time of day) every hour and it's fairly easy to land pretty high on cals. Eggs pack lots of protein and I can easily eat 4 of them and still get some carbs in too. But yeah, stomach needs to unshrink also, eating small a few days and it's hard to start eating big again.
Also as mentioned above of course.
Would even say it's fine to eat some bars between meals if your wallet lets you, it usually tastes great and is easy on the stomach and appetite.

Might have to go the bar route. Doing fine at home, but struggling to get the calories in during work (and it's a job with A LOT of walking, so it doesn't help).

And same dog (and other randos).

Thanks dude.

Did 315 on the bench today. I have felt I could do it for awhile just havent tried to confirm. Pretty sure I could have done 325. It was a goal of mine to hit 315 before I turn 50 in May.

Nice work!

I entered the 3 plates on each side club for bent over rows at the end of 2018. Strict form. Feels great because it's easy to chest with those.

I injured my shoulder last August and could not do incline press for awhile so my back and legs have really beefed up since laying off. I'm naturally shoulder/chest dominate so its rounded me out to where my back and legs stand out first. Chest is playing catchup now.

Been thinking about it for a couple years and finally got around to buying a new bike. Went with the Trek Checkpoint ALR 5 which is under their Gravel lineup. Just a road bike with tires in between road and mountain bike, so it still has good traction on gravel bike trails. Took it out last night for a few miles to test and love it. Compared to my nearly 10 year old cheap Trek hardtail, it is so much lighter, smoother, and faster. Judging by the Strava app I used to average around 12-15mph on my mountain bike so will be interesting to see what I can do on this. Wasn't running the app at the time, but going in top gear while barely pedaling my shirt was fluttering in the wind behind me which never happened on the mountain bike, so I'm guessing pushing 20. Been so much rain lately so trails have been sketchy. At least now I have a decent bike to ride on the road as well.

I finally put together a home gym. Did alot of wheeling and dealing on facebook for the weights and bars. Bought the rack off Amazon.
Got about $1500 in everything and that includes an AC i bought to cool off the garage.

Weights are the most expensive part due to shipping. Good work.

One deal I got on facebook was 450lb of plates, weight tree, tricep bar 7' olympic bar and a stall mat for $430. Another deal I got was an HB600 bench, a marcy adjustable bench, 400lbs of plates, EZ bar, 7' olympic bar, weight tree and 2 dumbell handles for $300. I sold the HB600, 7' bar, weight tree and the plates to 2 different people for $280. So I got the adjustable bench, ez bar and the 2 dumbell handles for $20.
I still need a couple 2.5 lb plates to complete my weights.

Been doing a running challenge this month. Need to step it up a notch and secure third place. Damn thunderstorms are gonna really limit my window to tomorrow, and taking a day off today. I've got till Sunday, gonna hit 60 miles this month.
