Is there anything which can reduce fire damage? I'm up to a really hard fire elemental and it keeps dealing fire damage even if i'm ages away and can barely attack without taking a lot of damage.
Aard. Aard. And more Aard. Aard extinguishes fire. Aard was made for fights like these.

I'm just waiting for Bellybama to get into the game and post some pics of her Geralt..... DOES the shirtless adventurer Geralt still stalk Velen?! ;)
I just patched my game, and he still doesn't have a selfie stick, nor snap chat? This game REALLY isn't teen friendly... :p

Advised not to download this week's free Witcher 3 DLC (Ciri):

The upcoming patch will include an "alternate movement response option" for Geralt. When asked more about this, the dev responded:

“Some players have been reporting that Geralt’s responsiveness was not up to their preferences so we are introducing a toggle to switch between two types of responsiveness. Once you play it, you’ll be able to choose the one that fits you better.”

“If you put in a lot of hours into the game and we change it all of a sudden, that would feel weird, wouldn’t it? That’s why we thought it would be only natural to have this as an on/off option.”

Quen extinguishes adverse effects like burning, poisons, and bleeding.

http://www.dsogaming.com/news/the-w...-copies-1-3-million-were-from-the-pc-version/

Base on info of vgchart and the above link.

Making 2 assumptions
1) % digital sales is similar between consoles
2) sales trend is similar in first & second week

We know from cdpr statements on dsogaming that w3 sold 4 millions in 2 weeks with PC selling 32.65%

Making consoles selling 67.35%

Using ratio of consoles from vgchart.
Ps4= ( 1138099/1528138 )x 67.35%= 50.16%
X1 = (390039/1538138 )x 67.35%= 17.2%

(Note :1538138 is sum of both consoles)

Result:
Ps4: 50.16%
X1: 17.2%
PC: 32.65%

( this is for info/ academic study)

Weird. Wonder why it's a 3 to 1 ratio between PS4 and Xbox.

Possible explanations (some facetious):
  • PS4 gamers like RPGs more than Xbox gamers.
  • There are no games on the PS4, so PS4 owners had nothing else to play.
  • Xbox gamers couldn't tear themselves away from their bro shooters.
  • Witcher 3 is popular in regions where the Xbox is not.

There are almost 10 million more PlayStation 4s in worldwide households compared to Xbox one. So yea....

That's part of the reason, sure. But the install base ratio is < 2 to 1, wherease this ratio is > 3 to 1. So something is going on besides install base.

Don't know..I for one am almost finished up with it on Xbox one which is a sad thought. The majority of people on my friends list have logged in alot of hours as well. It's certainly a popular game on Xbox based off the activity I have noticed when I'm online. However as of lately I have noticed alot of people going back to destiny and Neverwinter. Once I finish it i will be going back to bf4 and COD myself.

Not to frame any console war VS. No one really know the ratio of PS4 vs X1, so its hard to make a deduction of software sales base on hardware customer base. There could also be dual consoles gamers that may favors PS4 due to higher res. There are framerate issue on PS4 (fixed?) but that came later.
Most sales I prsume if from first few days & preordered.

I think (as Andy mentioned) X1 being NA heavy & likely less RPG fans than say in Europe or rest of the world where PS4 sold much better affect teh sales too. Interesting though is how heavy Witcher is advertise on Xbox.

As a mainly PC gamer, I am just happy that unlike what some people speculated, Sales on PC are very strong /1/3 sales on PC is figures given by CDPR) , & PC games tends to have longer legs due to Mods. So much for PC gamers are mostly pirates, or PC sales are so insignificant. This may wake up some developers who give PC gamers the short stick. Make a good game, that is stable on PC; & people will buy! PC sales being mainly digital also means a higher profit magin.

How many hours did you end up putting in?

There are question marks all over my map, many long sidequests to complete, and I haven't even gotten to Novigrad or Skellige yet. It's going to be a long game.

Don't think too much over the '?', I am over 127 hours and still like 40% '?' at Velen, & 75% at skellige or something. Just focus on quest. Just go the '?' When it's near your objectives.

Has this game outsold Witcher 2? I remember thinking that was always primarily going to be a PC game when it launched.

I thought it would have been a massive seller on PC too, even if just for the visual wank. I guess piracy can take the edge off, to an extent.

Its great to see a polished game selling well!

That's pretty much what I'm doing. At the beginning, I explored all the "?" quests, but I got bored. So I switched to focusing on the main quests and side-quests, leaving the "?" alone unless they're in my path.

I like to explore WRPGs thoroughly, though, so eventually, I'll uncover every "?". Just not right now.

I'm about 60 hours in. I have not done alot of the ? Mark stuff. Just been focusing on the main quest and secondary quest and of course some witcher contract stuff. The story is so deep to me which makes me extremely impatient. This forces me to move forward even faster to find out what happens next. Just finished up at skellige..

I would probably do more of the "?" things if I wasn't concerned about over-levelling myself. As it is, I'm already a higher level than several of my quests. I don't want to get overpowered too early.

Jennie 'o the Woods was the first enemy I had real trouble with. She must've killed me half a dozen times before I figured her out. I was making several mistakes -- swinging too much and not dodging enough, relying too much on Quen and not enough on Yrden, and not going after her dopplegangers fast enough. Finally got her, though.

My character right now is ridiculously overpowered. between the armor and swords that I currently have its to the point its not even a challenge. Most of my skill sets are maxed out too. I have come across alot of good loot. I'm going to have to crank the difficulty level up higher. Been playing on default. I'm trying to hold off though and wait for this new patch since it addresses a lot of things that I thought needed changing. That's one thing that disappoints me is that I'm almost finished with the game in this awesome patch is coming out. One of my biggest gripes was being over burdened with weight all the time and having a stash stuff everywhere and this address is a lot of those issues.

I'm definitely going to take your advice and wait a month or two for Fallout 4 so this does not happen again.

Did you go out of your way to find and craft gear (e.g., Witcher gear)? I'm leaving that alone for now. I'll craft an occasional piece, but I'm not going out of my way or doing any of the Witcher gear quests, because I feel like what I come across in the field is good enough. I've actually been a little surprised at how easy the game has been -- not always, but often. I don't want it to become too easy.

Well, the problem with that is that we'll miss out on the discussion of the game. It's nice to be a part of that initial excitement, when everyone is playing a new game for the first time. I don't know if I want to miss out on that, with Fallout. It worked out well for Witcher, but there were other circumstances that caused me to delay. I may end up getting Fallout at release after all. I'm still undecided.

I would think that it did outsell W1 and W2. I played both and I know W2 had a bump in sales when it was later ported to the 360. However with this title being released on pretty much every major platform I would think it did outsell W2.
Plus I know some people even with PCs skipped out on W2 simply because it was (and to an extent still is) pretty demanding on PC hardware.

Info re. the expansions, from a Witcher 3 developer:

"The expansion packs will be whole new storylines with all the elements you've got in the main story (like cutscenes, new characters, new items, new Gwent cards) and many, many more. They will be quite long. The first expansion will be around 10 hours and the second expansion will be around 20 hours... and I think it's possible that they will be bigger, because it's always like this (that when we plan some time or hours, it's twice or something like this), but I'm not promising anything right now. And even now, if you sum up this 10 to 20 hours and you compare it to The Witcher 2, it's almost the size of The Witcher 2. And it will be cool, it will be new stories, it will be very emotional stories and I think that people will be happy."

That's a lot of content. I'll be happy to pay. I haven't downloaded any of the free DLC so far. I've got to figure out how to do that, one of these days. There's so much else to do, though.

About that last bit ("very emotional stories"), I've been surprised at how good some of the storytelling has been in Witcher 3. I've actually teared up a couple of times. In Witcher 2, by contrast, I never felt emotionally engaged in anything that happened, throughout the course of the whole game. The writing and execution is a lot better this time around. There's a lot more humor, too.

p.s. I'm hearing the first one is set for October and the second in Q1 2016.

You should at least download the Skellege armor set. Looks bad-ass. I hated when it was too low level to wear anymore :(

The haircut one is pretty good too.

The problem I have with the DLC is not knowing where to find it - the armor I mean. Seems like you'd have to look it up online, and I never cared enough to do that.

Also, with the haircuts & beards DLC - I have about 6 options for each. Is that really the extent of it? How many were there before then?

Yeah, there aren't many hair/beards, but I think there were only 3 before.

The DLC is in the game store on XBL under Add-ons. Just look up The Witcher 3

Do yourself a favor and download the alternate costumes for Yen and Triss ;) the witcher gear from the DLC you can craft are pretty good.
