I’ll absolutely play through the updated version of the game again. Assuming it’s a free update there.

Lucky. The Blood and Wine expansion was better than the main game I thought.
It also kind of brakes the game with how powerful you could become. I greatly enjoyed being overpowered so I'm not complaining.

I'd be more excited for this if it had dropped during a slow time in gaming for me, like late last summer. But this drops a few weeks after The Callisto Protocol so I'm not sure how much time I'll have for this.

Imagine having to be told which version to play because someone else is in control of your enjoyment of a game.

I just reinstalled. I couldn't remember which platform I owned this on. I bought it forever ago and never played it.

I'm watching the live stream. There is a 30 FPS mode and a 60 FPS mode for PS5 and Series X (quality or performance). They also fixed a couple of quests, improved grass and foliage density, you can change subtitle sizes, etc. There is also a new camera mode that is pulled in with Geralt to the left of the screen. I wouldn't expect anything revolutionary, but for a free upgrade it looks great.

There is also a change in controls, such as being able to switch to sprint just using the thumbstick instead of holding the "A" button. There are some new outfits as well, plus a few "surprises" they mentioned. There is also a photo mode added. Also haptic feedback implementation for PS5. They added the Nilfgaard armor from Season 1 of the Netflix series it looks like.

Cross saving now implemented as well, so you can continue a PC game on console, etc.

So no native 4K/60fps on next gen XSX/PS5 for a 7 and a half year old game.

No, don't think so. They mentioned FSR 2.0 and dynamic resolution. To be fair they also mentioned raytracing implementation, so if that is also active on the 60 FPS mode I think that is a fair trade.
