The Wrestling Topic

It's been awful for years. I'm sometimes a month behind in DVR recordings. It's a chore to spend 10 minutes each show trying to find anything interesting enough to not skip through. This covid crap has made it so much worse on top of it just being bad anyway.

From what I read about All Out for AEW I'm glad I didn't pay for that. At least with WWE you know your'e gonna get a few good matches out of a PPV at only $10 for the month. It's a lot harder to swallow $50 for an event like that.

It wasn't as good as Double or Nothing but it was as good as SS and better than most other WWE PPV's.

Last weeks PB PPV was a joke for example.

I have been a wrestling fan since I was a kid, I don't watch it all that much now because I just can't get into most of the performers they have these days and the few I like end up going up against the same people over and over again. Sadly I find AEW to be worse in many ways than WWE, they set up some of the dumbest things and having Moxley as champ is a joke, the guys matches almost always suck and 90% of his moves look so fake it's hard to watch. I know some think Jim Cornette is a crazy old man screaming about wanting what he had in his prime back but I tend to agree with the vast majority of his criticisms of modern wrestling.

I actually enjoy seeing the same wrestlers wrestling each other week after week and not knowing if my DVR recorded the same show multiple times.

That's WWE

Yeah AEW is the one where job guys kick out of finishers and people do flips for no reason, it's the place where tag teams don't follow any rules and stay in the ring for 3 minutes after a tag, it's high production indie wrestling for the most part and other than MJF, FTR and now Miro the rest of their roster that I've seen so far stinks. What the f*** do they have Harper wearing? why is that little person out there with the "Jurassic Express"? and wtf is express about them? lol That organization has the funding but they need someone to start doing a better job with the storylines, they go too hard for gimmicks and not enough on setting up stories and letting things develop.

Um no and the ratings are climbing.
I been watching wrestling since the early 80's and this s*** that comes on USA and Fox isn't wrestling.

Ratings only really rose a little when NXT wasn't up against them, they had more viewers when the show first started than they do now. I've been watching wrestling since the 1980's too, went to my first live event on a rainy valentines day in 1986, this was the card
https://prowrestling.fandom.com/wiki/WWF_House_Show_(Feb_14,_86'_no.1) and went to many others after. I remember going to the Anaheim convention center and seeing Hogan vs the Big Bossman in a cage match (was the big blue one) and Slick called my brother a white boy MF'er when we were standing by the guardrail and he was selling Hogan throwing him into the side of the cage.

Later on in life I was lucky enough to have a friend that worked at Jakks Pacific when they did the action figures for WWF and got comped tickets for a couple of years and went to almost every show in Anaheim, even went to a Monday Night Raw. I even had a couple of original sculpts for a Kane action figure and Taka Michinoku but I sold them a loooong time ago. I always liked NWA more than WWF back then because I liked the matches better and the atmosphere, always loved the dark arenas and how loud their crowds were but WWF was also a lot of fun too it was just a lot more cartoonish. Now it's a mess, Seth Rollins is annoying AF, his voice is awful so hearing him do a promo is like nails on a chalk board, we've seen Randy Orton feud with everyone twice, they've ruined Strowman and Bray Wyatt and they push the women's division too hard when only a few of them are even worth a damn.

When it comes to AEW there is no storytelling it's all gimmick matches and people doing over the top stuff all the time, nothing feels special because nothing is ever normal there. I can't stand the Young f***s, Kenno Omega or Moxley so that doesn't help and I've never been much of a Jericho fan but seeing him out of shape with that 70's school librarian hairstyle makes it even worse lol. I think AEW needs to slow down, they need to take a breath and plan things out better, if Cody Rhodes is supposed to be this great wrestler he shouldn't struggle with job guys, if Matt Hardy and Sammy Guevara are having a feud they should have at least started with a normal match first and worked towards something bigger not starting with special stipulation matches and just making them more and more violent each time.

I was watching some YouTube clips from their recent show and man their set almost looks like a cartoon, too many lights and it's just too bright overall, not a fan of those tunnels either.

I started with AWA,UWF,WWF and NWA.
WWF/E has always been the joke.
AEW is the closest to WCW and yes I luv WCW Nitro was it perfect? No but I luved it.

They have nothing of interest happening in WWE(even NXT has been trash) and the ratings are diving fast.

I don't normally watch wrestling live anymore, but last night I was exhausted and just wanted to turn my brain off for a bit so I turned on AEW. When he debuted I was legit like, wait Miro....I know that name? Then it hit me and I was like HELL YEAH RUSEV. Didn't love how much he plugged his twitch channel, but that's also because I don't really watch twitch but whatever he needs to get eyes on him f***in do it! He's a monster and if used properly is champion material.

Wonder if he'll use the same moveset/finisher or change it up?

Also, I'm here for Miro Machka chants

AEW needs to move away from TNAs mistake.
Stop getting talent to complain about the wwe as soon as they get a mic.

Fans get tired of it quickly and they already are judging by Miros twitter

I agree. Maybe drop a teaser or two and then just move on to everyone you're gonna destroy

They just need to ignore WWE all together and focus on making their own product better, their biggest stars are people who made a name for themselves in the WWE first other than MJF. I know some will say "But Omega and the Young Bucks" well outside of people who followed Japanese wrestling and the small group of fans who watched indie stuff nobody else knows who they are.

This is one of the funniest things I've read here in a long time.

I agree with everything you said. I just watch it because Dr Britt Baker makes me laugh and Shida is adorable.

AEW is a better product.
Higher rated in most cases as well.

Rated in what way? they don't approach raw or smackdowns tv ratings and if you are talking Dave Meltzer the guy is being paid.
I am talking most editors and lol @thinking meltzer is paid by AEW over the years WWE maybe but not AEW.
Raw and SD numbers are on the decline and it's only a matter of time that AEW catches them.
