I think I heard the arcade brand isn't being brought over in favor for just having xbox live games. We ultimately know the difference between XBLA and retail. So in general, what's been you faves, and what would you like to see out of the X1 xbox live games?

As we've seen XBLA grow, we've seen more ambitious and bigger budget projects be made, as opposed to the original format we saw during the original xbox and early days of the 360. We even have free to play games now. From what I see, MS wants to continue that growth. One of it's biggest launch titles is going to be Killer Instinct and it's gonna be an exclusive digital only game. Obviously that could change in the future, but when the Xbox One releases, the only way to get is off of Xbox Live. Along with it, Crimson Dragon plans to be available, and Twisted Pixel's new game, Loco Cycle, is another game going over to the X1. It'll be interesting to see how it goes, especially with the online presence in console gaming simply getting bigger and bigger.

Personally, some of my favorite games this gen have been in the 2D side scrolling genre. Whether they were in the form of 3D characters and environments like Splosion Man or true 2D like Castle Crashers. I'd love to see 2D games continue to have a place in the nexgen and maybe see how big a budget can get for a modern 2D game. The Rayman games have been nothing short of fantastic, and I'd love to see this genre expand in some format. Especially if we get it in the form of 2D graphics like Rayman. To me, that's always been the advantage of 2D games. Cel shading is fantastic and unique in it's own way, but it's no replacement for true illustrations. Part of me wishes the genre would be big and popular enough to warrant a Disney-esque type of budget. Rayman Origins was exactly what I always wanted to see out of the genre and to see the growth of it would be awesome in my opinion.

Yeah once the XBox One comes out its no longer GoD, XBLA or Indie its simply Games.

After a slow start XBLA has become very good over the years with many great games.

My favorite arcade games were Shadow Complex and Bastion. Both were amazing. Would love to see a Shadow Complex 2 hit the X1.

I would love to see Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow become a XBLA title.

The merging of full budget, XBLA and Indie games will be a big boon in reverse order.... Indies --> XBLA quality --> full budget games.

I've done my fair share of buying XBLA and Indie games, but I think many gamers don't care one bit at those sections, but now the games will be among the full budget games, so many gamers will be sifting through them all and can't help seeing, testing, and buying $1-10 Indie and XBLA games.

mark of the ninja, Iron Brigade, 1943, dungeon defenders, tomb raider guardian of light, Hybrid all the magic games, 'splosion man, to be perfectly honest, there are tooany to count. I bought and enjoyed Sooooo many games on XBLA.

I think Spark, if they properly support it with quarterly DLC, will take the place of a lot of $1 to $2 game market.

Maybe, but it'd need to match the creative and technical control indie devs would have otherwise to really take the place of indie games besides just being a "create a game" game. Not to mention a way to make profit. We need a youtube of games in a nutshell.

Again, I am making several assumptions... First, I assume Spark is going to be properly curated and supported. Second I am assuming that DLC will be released at somewhat routine intervals. For example, a Halo theme pack, that lets us throw characters from the Halo universe down on the map. In that case the impulse to make the small indy games will be fulfilled, people looking for different things will always have Spark to try/play with. It would keep the games fresh.

That fills the "I was to make an RPG" itch that compromised about 90% if the indy game scene.

I'm not crazy about the mixing of arcade and indy games. I'm only interested in about 5% of arcade games. 98% of indy games are junk. If you pile all of the indy games in with arcade games, it is going to be hard to find the good ones. Services and reviews that help us find the worthwhile games in all that dross are going to be valuable.

I've bought a good deal of indie games and XBLA games. Prolly my favorites being twin stick shooters and 2D/2.5D side scrollers. A few of my favorites have been Castle Crashers, Charlie Murder, Shadow Complex, Final Fight, Geo Wars 1/2 and a crap ton of Indie games

I love it when jargon from Farscape makes it into mainstream language.

Maybe, but there's plenty of other factor's to consider before we can even assume Spark can truly replace the indie market. Creativity, technical control, profit, and let's not forget notoriety. Some devs were able to rise up from the indie section to have their own slice of notoriety. Ska Studios and Zeboyd Games are a couple of studios that were able to rise up and be something more. Of course, I believe that happened partially because of the fact that they could make some money out of it. To me, the ultimate decider of Spark's ability to become a sort of youtube for games is whether or not people who get a ton of downloads will ever be able to get anything out of the work put into the Spark system. Otherwise, it'll just end up being another cool and fun game creator, but not a replacement for indie games in general. I mean, the small indy game goes a bit beyond the "I want to make an RPG" or "I want to put Halo characters in this type of game" generalization.

I don't see it being long before its changed again. Indie devs will bitch no matter what.

games i have enjoyed over the years Battlefield 1943, Torchlight, Castle Crashers, Puzzle Quest.

I could never really find a indie game worth playing beyond the demo. Only ones i ever purchased was Avatar Golf and Word Soup my wife enjoys it.
