theme ideas

i had my own basic idea for a theme tweak but thought i may aswell create a thread so that others can contribute if they have their own. so any ideas you may have, post them up!

this is my slight tweak on the "mid-tone slim" theme. at the moment posts feel a little fragmented because of the colour placement, so i placed a one-colour backdrop to blend them together (forgive the crappy details of my ms paint use, the background colour placement is what i'm broadly advocating)

I like your suggestion. That was really one of the main reasons I didn't end up using that theme.

i see you implemented that pretty quickly plainview. nice work i still have a few suggestions to further this, and before doing so i would just like to make clear that i hope i'm not coming across as pushy, it's just that i have some ideas that people can take, tweak or ignore all together. it's all good

okay so i figured i would be a little more specific time:

new specifics:

1. the backdrop colour protrudes outwards a little instead of pushed right up against the sides

2. rid of speech bubble as i personally find it a bit of an eyesore (the bubble's lighter colour is spread across as the general background colour for posts)

3. smooth those stark blacks into a dark grey to blend with the overall colour theme

4. move the bar to the almost the very bottom of each post so as not to make the posts feel cramped

5. the line that separates each post stops at the protusion (#1). i personally just thinks it links things together a little nicer, though maybe in practice it might be different

6. added vertical line to separate user and post because of the removal of speech bubble

It's really as far as I can take it now. I just don't have the time to tweak it much further. I'm looking at some darker themes to add to the site to replace the mid-tone one which are a pain in the ass to tweak since I've tweaked them so much.

I recommended that before to do themes specific to holidays. Not sure how much work it is but would be cool.
