I just thought it would be a cool idea if there was an app for this site! It would just make it all the more accessible & easy to access. I'm sure it would help increase the user base of the site as well. If anyone here can do it, it would be an awesome idea!

Great idea, I think it'd be hard for someone outside of the staff (or maybe only Plainview) to do though. I'm not sure how someone is going to get access to the backend in order to get all of the user data, forum data, etc.

I'm not even sure to what extent PV has access to the backend seeing as this is 3rd party forum software.

Forum isn't third party. I own the license outright. I have access to it all and can customize as I see edit anything. There's no "backend."

There's really no need for an app since the site is mobile friendly. What would the app do, Doom? There's a Taptalk plugin but it's buggy and I don't have the time to work on it.

"Forum software by XenForo™", then what is this?

And by backend I meant a database. There's got to be a database.

Mobile site is great and makes way more sense to continue to support. Problem with "apps" is they tend to break when you upgrade your forum software.

And I don't think Plainview knows what backend means in software terms, lol ;)

I just thought it would be cool rather than having to open your browser & start looking through bookmarks. With an App you just tap & go... ;)

That's the creator of the software. I don't feel like paying for branding removal.

Of course there's a db. I back it up every night and have complete access to it. This isn't a shared web forum like the temp refugee site. It's independent from everything.

By backend with forums I think of sites like pbforums where you're creating a forum on their fourm.

Ah cool. I didn't know if you had access to the db. I figured they were created by the XenForo software but didn't know if they'd be stored on your host or if it'd just be making a call to their servers or something.

When I said 3rd party though I didn't mean it in a sense that you didn't own it. It's just not your API/code is all I meant.

I design infrastructure for mobile and tablet apps as part of my job. Most apps that serve up a website are just wrappers for a mobile friendly look and feel. All they do is limit functionality and give you some size resizing. It's totally pointless when you have a very good mobile friendly theme like this site does.
You could shortcut the site and put it as a bookmark on a home screen on your phone. It would look like an app, if that's what you want :-)
