Thief

Yeah this one is just meh for me. I'll probably stick to AC for my "stealth" fix.

Hmm, I would have wanted to see more "gameplay" than all this no-hud jumping around cinematic stuff. I am very critical of this game. They are making some changes to the series, and whether I like it or not will really depend. I don't like that they have changed the voice actor. Might as well have just made a new character. I hope the gameplay doesn't make me feel like I'm playing Assassin's Creed with a medieval thief. Anyway, I'll withhold judgment until I have more to go on.

I agree this looks bad. It's just a pre-rendered video, though. I've seen an actual gameplay walkthrough video and it looked REALLY good.

I'm very worried they have made Thief 4 so 'accessible' that it will not have much in common with previous titles. This title has gone from being a most wanted game to a wait and see but don't expect to much for me. From what I've seen and read about Garret's abilities and guard AI, leave me with the impression that this title will probably not be very good, which does not please me at all. I wish devs would stop trying to make every game appeal to everyone and consider what made their games popular to begin with.

I've yet to play a reboot that was anywhere near as good as the originals.

"Gameplay videos" never do this sort of title justice. In a world where Call of Duty and Gears of War have their made-for-TV-commercial cutscenes, titles like Thief and Deus Ex just don't offer those overly-scripted, "cinematic" scripted events.

I'm sold on this game because I've loved the earlier Thief titles, I loved the work Eidos Montreal accomplished with Deus Ex: Human Revolution and because titles like this simply don't get made very often.

If you haven't been afforded the opportunity, you should play these games. They're amazing experiences and can be found very cheap.

It'll be a reskin of deus ex if the gameplay is going to go by. Not a bad thing, but the lack of the original voice actor for garret (less that it's not him, more that the new guy just sorta sucks) and the new team means it's likely lost some of it's identity.

I'll still buy it, they're basically making a game out of pieces from dishonored and deus ex. Everyone can speak to the varied and frankly amazing experiences of those, I know it's gonna be good. I'll just cover my ears and go la la la la every time the new guy talks.

Plus it'll be nice to play a game where murder isn't necessarily the intended goal. I can only shoot, stab, immolate, and defenestrate (in SC:Blacklist) so many people.

Yo can't help but notice this thread got moved. COME AT ME BRO!

:)

*note I'm just teasing and am in no way serious*

A lot of male testosterone pent up there, maybe you need to get physical with some lady friend.

Just kidding, just kidding :p

I don't think you could tell which platform it is for, given the quality of the video. And did he just mention Assassin's Creed in the video??

Indeed. The buttons could be from a 360 or One controller connected to PC. It certainly ain't PS3 or PS4 footage though. I don't speak German, but the parkour is definitely like AC. Could be really cool in first person. Bit like Mirror's Edge too.

Hmm that actually looked really good and fun. It does seem to have an AC feel, but more "realistic" I think.

Looks okay, especially for stealth fans.

Massive fan of the original series on PC, so this is a no-brainer for me. Looks like they're sticking fairly true to the roots of the series as well. And relief washes over me, in an awesome wave.

I love how devs are advertising their games this gen. So Hollywood wit it...

It was like this last generation. It's no different today.

On topic:

I am loving this game's progress. It looks like it's shaping up to be a worthy successor to the classic Thief games.

Damn, this looks pretty good. Have to wait for reviews, though. This being a stealth game, there's A LOT riding on enemy AI here. If it's shoddy and broken, then it's going to ruin the whole thing.
