Titanfall 2 MP tech test 8/19

I'll be buying it on X1 but I'll try it on both. I'm actually excited to see it on PlayStation. I hope they use the cloud AI on it again.

So do we have to download this tech test on Friday sometime or will it be available to download earlier?

Jon Shiring on Twitter is saying it will be available before Friday. So this evening or tomorrow sometime.

Started playing it today. The movement for some reason seems even crazier in the sequel, and those who can master flying through the air and maintaining proper aim on a tiny target will rule every match.

The Titans pack a wallop, but they are frail. I've achieved the best success using my Titan as a decoy and picking off players who attack it.

Early impressions, something is off compared to the first. Going to play a bit more then write something more detailed,

Alright, I've spent about two hours playing. The game plays completely different than TF1.

The map design has moved the wall running from the forefront of the gameplay to just being a movement capability. I don't feel like I can traverse the map anymore via wall running the way these two maps are designed. The smaller map in this open beta has random obstacles that either obstruct your vision or get in your way of wall running.

The bigger map has huge open areas, but like zero zip lines as you would see in the first to help traversing the map.

Base movement is slightly slower.

Gunplay still feels tight like the first which is great. Not a fan of the change of weapon load out. In the first you had a main, a sidearm, and a anti-Titan weapon. Now you have a main and choose between a side arm or anti-Titan.

Titans are kind of meh.

I think making specific Titan classes using specific weapons was the wrong way to go. They should have kept all the customization from the first, made the "special move" Titan specific, but still allowed the use of whatever weapon you want.

I feel like the Titan vs Pilot game play has been changed for the worse. The whole remove the core then and automatically being thrown off then having to jump back on the Titan is kind of lame. Because the removal of Titan load outs, also feels like when a pilot rodeos your Titan, there is little you can do.

Titan v Titan gameplay has also fundamentally changed as it is no longer a dance if that makes sense. I don't feel like I can take on multiple Titans in this game like you could in the first one.

I feel like you have to play Titanfall 2 more like CoD so far. You have to be more conservative in your map movement. People called Titanfall Cod with Mechs before it released, and they were wrong, This feels like CoD with mechs.

Oh wow. That does not fill me with confidence.

From what I have seen wall running has been replaced by the grappling hook. So traversing the map is a still a big thing in the game, but the way you do it has changed in a big way.

Fuuuuuuuuuck. Really? :(

You think all this has to do with it being a beta? I absolutely loved TF #1. To hear the mechs and wall running has taken a hit disappoints me.

And honestly, why would they take out the bots, and why the hell would you just play pilot-to-pilot with no Titans? Who does that?

Played quite a bit more last night. I still suck at this game, but I was incredibly impressed at the skill of some players - it proves that the traversals are critical to snagging kills.

Re: Titans, I've seen my character jump off a Titan after removing its core, but I've also had times where I dump a grenade into the chute after removing the core as well. I don't know why that happens only some of the time.

It's tough to kill pilots as a Titan. Pilots are tiny targets that are difficult to see and track. This is a great balance, but ultimately leaves you wondering, "why do we need Titans again?"

I'm platform independent.

I don't know, but these two maps available aren't very good.

You can't pull off stuff like this

^ that is what titanfall was all about. Mobility around the map and I don't feel like you have that kind of mobility anymore, even with the grapple hook.

But again, it is these two particular maps. Maybe other maps will be different.

After you remove the core or somebody else removes the core, you dump a grenade in that open hole left where the core was to cause additional damage.

Zombie, you're making me all sorts of sad. The mobility on Titanfall is one of the things that really set it apart. Titans were also a blast to play, but I did notice that most people had no idea how to use them. While I'm not the greatest at shooters, my k/d ratio vs pilots in this game (3.5) was way higher than I tend to be in other games (1.6ish on most shooters). I attribute that to using my titan effectively. From your comments and others, they seem to be more frail now and not as fun to pilot.

I guess ill find out tomorrow for myself

I don't even know if i'm going to bother with Titanfall 2 this year. Nevermind all the games coming out, just all the shooters coming out is crazy. This one is likely the odd game out for me.

How da fuq you expect me to play 4 multiplayer shooters at the same time? Gears is a lock, Modern Warfare remaster is a lock, and Battlefield is looking like a lock. Spread your games out devs.

Titanfall 2 is the only definite shooter for me. Battlefield is the other highest chance purchase. Gears is a possibility but I'm in no hurry for it and COD is a no hoper

Still no download? We be able to play at midnight tonight?

Titanfall2 and Battlefield are the only two that interest me.

Gears 4, eh. Just too samey for me.

COD :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

I believe Vince Zampella said it would be available at 9am PST Friday. Which is around 5PM BST
