Le Samouraï, pretty unknown to general public and so underrated. I have it on DVD but am waiting for a great Blu-ray transfer. I still need to see Days of Heaven and Wings of Desire.

Le Samourai is amazing.

I don't like making top 10 lists, it's always painful to exclude so many great movies! So here's ten I really enjoy that I think are probably a little overlooked.

- Judgement at Nuremberg (1961)
- Repo Man (1984)
- Rope (1948 )
- Les Diaboliques (1955)
- To Be or Not to Be (1942)
- Cache (2005)
- The Ox-Bow Incident (1943)
- The Furies (1950)
- Sword of Doom (1966)
- Hara-Kiri (1962)
- Hud (1963)

I think that's actually 11. I told you I don't like making top 10s....

interesting list. the furies and nuremburg have been in bmy backlog for some time. and hud is an incredible film, it carries a real nostalgia for a time and place (even though i personally have no relation to either as depicted in the film). that film turned me onto the director martin ritt as i found his unimposing yet classic visual style style very appealing; "the spy who came into from the cold" is every bit as good as hud in my opinion (though they are quite different)

Absolutely love The Spy Who Came in From the Cold. Just how it's a real slow burning movie, but it had my jaw on the floor near the end. Another movie that's a lot like Hud I love is The Last Picture Show. Similar sort of nostalgic, bleached-out Texan downer with rebellious teenagers and dying old people haha. Actually I'm a big fan of Bogdanovich in general, everything I've seen from him (Picture Show, Targets, What's Up Doc and Paper Moon) have really impressed me. I hear he really goes downhill after those 4 though, but I'll check his other ones out anyway I guess.
