Update #1 Best way to find out if your console is eligible is to just bring it in. Worst thing they can say is no and you lose out on the time and effort.

For those that haven't done a trade in at Best Buy,

They are usually done at the customer service desk. Most employees back there are not even trained for console trades ins. So I'm willing to bet they don't even know how to check for the warranty seal on certain consoles. They also won't be able to test if its fully functional unless they have it hooked up to a TV so take that for what its worth.

Please keep in mind that an ID is required and they do take down all the information on it during the trade process. Depending on your store or area, they will also take a fingerprint or a photo of you. YMMV

Do not be discouraged if they tell that your system has a lower value than $100. There should be a promotion applied during the trade process to boost it up to $100 if you have an eligible system. Not all stores are informed of this promotion so YMMV. This trade offer is very similar to the Target iPad trade offer that was going on several weeks ago.

Apparently there is a checklist that each rep has to go through to process the trade. If someone can get a copy or take a picture of it, I'll gladly post it here. Going by what SDers have reported so far, you will need:

•Console (must power on and be fully functional)
•Hard Drive (depending on model)
•Power Cable/Brick
•AV (Video) Cable
•Controller (Wireless or Wired?)
•Warranty Seal Intact
•Legible Serial Number

Hmm, I got a slim with me and a working original 360 at my parents home which they bought a Kinect for, but only used once.

I'm wondering if it's worth the 1.5 hour back/forth drive to trade it in.

Anybody know how much Best Buy or Gamestop typically give for a Used Original Xbox 360?

Gamestop will pay you more for certain models tomorrow due to a 90% trade in value boost. My 250GB slim will be worth $133 tomorrow. They also don't require a controller with the console and will pay for that as well if in good condition.

Older models will obviously be worth less so BB would probably be a better choice in the instance.

Traded one of mine in. 20 gig, OG with HDMI. They didn't know this was a deal. In any event, got $100 gift card. I think I'll use it for X1 headset.

Saw 4k tv for first time too. Do want.
