Ubisoft Forward (Sunday 07/12, 12 PST)

...but there hasn't been 3rd person driving since before Far Cry 2...

Oh s*** you are right, for some reason I thought they had 3rd person in the last game but I was thinking of something else, I was just wishing they had it.

Yeah, I mean, I dunno, for me one of the things I liked about Far Cry is that the entirety of the game was in first person. With 6 we're going to be seeing our character in the cutscenes, so if ever they were going to add a 3rd person view for driving this one is already taking a step in that direction. I liked that the game was always in first person, but if they're putting an end to that for cutscenes, may as well go on and do it for driving as well I guess.

First person driving in FC is the reason I always travel on foot. It's horribly bad.

You're not the first person I've seen express such sentiment, but I never really had an issue with it, especially once they added the ability to shoot while doing so...

I'm annoyed we didn't get any more footage of Beyond Good and Evil 2. That's the UBI game I'm really interested in. It will really benefit from next gen hardware too...

I wanted Splinter Cell surprise announcement. Maybe MS can buy the IP from them.

At this point, I think Ubisoft is:

A. Trolling the gaming community with Splinter Cell announcements
B. Has no idea how to make a new Splinter Cell Game
C. Has no idea how to fit a Splinter Cell game into their new model of monetization for games that will fit the same way as Assassins Creed or Ghost Recon.

For all intents and purposes, we need to consider the Splinter Cell IP dead. Because what we will get if they do get around to making a new game will be nothing like the games of old.

There was a rumor that they had to start from scratch on whatever SC game they were making. Would explain why they skipped the entire gen.

They probably are trying to find a way to make it open world, have save towers, swords, vehicles and last but not least, a gay Asian female transsexual lead.

The problem they'd have to deal with there would be it's connection with the Tom Clancy name, because Ubi wouldn't sell that since they still make Rainbow & Ghost Recon, but you can't detach splinter cell from Tom Clancy either. Ubi did say that this event wouldn't be the last, so anything they didn't show here could potentially be shown during the next one. BG&E2, maybe Splinter Cell if they're actually doing anything with it. We'll have to wait and see, we didn't even see whatever new form the game formerly known as Gods & Monsters has taken...

It's really horrible. I have to travel by foot, otherwise it gives me severe motion sickness.

I feel like that must be more of a user by user issue than a problem with how the driving works in the game. Myself and others have no problem with it so it can't objectively be a problem with the game itself but the user's susceptibility to motion sickness...

That's most likely it. I get motion sickness from just about every fps that uses head bobbing to a higher degree. Sometimes even 3rd person games with bobbing camera f***s me too. The driving in far cry likely gets me because of the use of fps camera movement when looking around while still driving the car in other direction.

I think if the FOV could be adjusted, I could tolerate the driving more.

RIP Hyper Scape. We never knew ya.

Contenders,

We have made the difficult decision to end development of Hyper Scape and shut the game down as of April 28th. We set out to create a vertical, close-quarters, and fast-paced shooter experience and we are extremely grateful to our community for joining us on our journey. We will be taking key learnings from this game into future products.

To the Hyper Scape community, thank you for your passion and dedication to the world of Neo Arcadia both inside and outside of the game. Your devotion to the game we built will always be cherished.

Reach out to us if you have questions.

Sincerely, Hyper Scape
