Some good stuff there and the usual annoying dance game crap. Is it just me or does the Division seem to lose a layer of graphical sheen every time they show it? it still looks good don't get me wrong but I think the original reveal looked quite a bit better than what was shown today (which again still looked very good) I think they had a strong enough line up to give them a pretty good grade on the show overall though, I give it a B+
I actually like the fake mic chat. It illustrates what the player would be or should be thinking at that particular moment. It definitely helps explain the game, which is exactly what they're going for.
It's also much preferable to real mic chat which usually combines the N word, prepubescent loudmouths, non game music, and someone talking to their mom/ordering a pizza.
Fail.
The only things that looked cool was The Division's backstabbing gameplay where you kill off teammates and random joiners and steal their gear. And Ghost recon open world game. The For Honor game had potential as the guy said it was a "new genre". Looked like a big hack and slash game like Japanese Samurai Warrior game, but with grittier European settings.
There's a PC game that is pretty similar where you run around in teams Medieval style hitting each other with swords and axes.
The rest of the show was trailers, Just Dance music segment, cheesy Rainbow Siege fake team banter, and a terrible host doing jokes every second line. Funny how she keeps saying she loves games and somehow has played a lot of these games that aren't even released yet. I bet she's played either zero or hardly any.
And who cares that Angela Bassett is digitized into a game as a some kind of chief of operations role?

The thing about UBI is that they put lots of effort into presentation. Whether it's the games, showcasing actors on stage, hiring an actress to host, etc.... the atmosphere is usually very "showy". The people presenting also usually force themselves to speak in a showy type of way, like the big guy describing For Honor.
The actual gameplay in their games is very hit and miss. I remember playing their various racing games on 360 and everyone has solid sound and menus and UI etc.... But the gameplay is very slippery and no matter if I played Fuel or Grid, the cars all had a similar feel.
I didn't see anything other than what was shown of the game at the MS conference, but it looks like it took a bigger hit to the graphics than Watch Dogs did.
Ghost Recon to me was stunning, but I know it'll suffer the same fate as all other Ubi games by the time it releases.
True. Difference here is that this game isn't being shown years in advance. I am sure there will be some downgrades, after all they will have to optimize as they go, but by & large, I think this one will look pretty much as we saw it.
