I have the ROG Ally original and the Steam Deck. I definitely prefer the Ally. Why would anyone choose Steam Deck over Rog Ally X? I am looking at portable options out there. Both support Steam. Maybe the new Xbox portable will be like Rog Ally X? You have more freedom with devices like Rog over the Steam Deck.
Unless I am missing something. I am lookiing at video reviews.
The Steam Deck OLED screen is better than the Ally X screen?I have the ROG Ally original and the Steam Deck. I definitely prefer the Ally.
The Steam Deck feels more like a console, is simpler to use, and is cheaper than the Ally X, but I’d say the advantages end there; except for the screen for the OLED version. That is probably also better on the Steam Deck.
That’s what I read, can’t say first hand. The Steam Deck OLED screen is better than the Ally X screen?

Asus ROG Ally X vs Steam Deck OLED: Which gaming handheld wins?
Similar in nature, but very different in practisewww.tomsguide.com
So my issue is the joysticks are symmetrical on the Steam Deck. I prefer them offset. Then my other issue is their dissatisfaction with the Windows 11 UI, and their workaround with Armory Crate.
I would like access to my Xbox library, but it seems Steam Deck only supports streaming Xbox games from the cloud, where as the Rog, I can install Xbox games from my library.
And then we have rumors of a Steam console.
I wonder if I should wait to hear more about the Steam consoles. Phil said the Xbox handheld is years away, so that isn't an option if I want to get something soon.
This video has at least convinced me that these Windows based handhelds are the way to go for existing Xbox libraries for games that support Play Anywhere. They said at the start, if you don't have a Steam library, the Rog is the way to go.
