Verdun out now for PS4 and PC, later for Xbox. WWI setting, multiplayer only I believe.

Here's the trailer

Something seems off. It looks like a stop-motion animation cartoon (think, Davey & Goliath) but not because of the framerate moreso the animations and graphics.

My 2nd thought was, now this could be pretty cool by presenting some historical accuracy to different WWI battles and allowing us to gain some insight into the progression of the war and how it all played out. But if it's online only then it will just be the usual clusterfart of campers, snipers, and zero-teamwork. I do like the WWI setting enough to keep an eye on it for more information that comes. Thanks for posting Andy.

Yup. I wish there was a good SP WWI game. I mean other than Valiant Hearts.

Verdun is actually very tactical and has several historical accuracies plus a single player campaign. Not every game is a Call of Duty clone. This game does excel at what it does, maybe moreso than Battlefield 1 i think.

Have you played it? Where are you getting this info? Please share.

I've played it, but the info isn't hiding or anything. The game has been out for pc for about a year already. The reviews are great too.

Have you played the SP campaign? If so, what did you think? How long was it?

I never finished the campaign, but I liked it. It's still definitely an indie game with the presentation tho. No big cosmetics and all. I mostly played the multiplayer to be perfectly honest.

Review, 7/10.

"Verdun does an amazing job scratching the WW1 itch that I'm sure so many people like myself have been experiencing while waiting for Battlefield 1 to come out. It provides a great atmosphere and historically accurate warfare, but there is a lot of things that hold it back too. Games that are made to be completely online are risky due to the fact so many player bases fall out not long after a game has been released. Alongside general player population questions, the game will need to compete with Battlefield 1 soon, and I don't see many people wanting to give up that potential.

"Some form of offline with AI opponents and teammates would make a great argument for getting the game and always being able to pick it up and play long after the player base dies out. The sound is marvelous, the idea even better, but the clunky controls and occasional bugs make it feel unpolished. With some much-needed updates and patches, I don't see why most people wouldn't consider this to be added to their library, especially on a sale."

Yeah, I don't think there actually is a singleplayer campaign. I looked at several articles, and they all refer to this as a multiplayer game. The closest thing is a mode called Squad Defense, which is "a single player bot game mode where players fight off endless waves of attacks by AI controlled soldiers in a 4-man squad." But that's not what I would call a SP campaign; that's just an offline Horde mode. I'm looking for a full-fledged campaign.

Nice. Had no idea there was a new WWI game out. These games just keep coming out of nowhere. I guess Battlefield 1 has devs bringing back the glory days. Now if a certain game would just follow suit i'd be all set.

Might be a good game. Problem is it looks like something from 2005. Is it even using ancient Unreal 3?

That's a shame there is no single player action.

Same reason I haven't read a thing about the new Battlefield...so now I hear that game is about WWI?!?? Does that have a single player campaign? I was thinking they took out single player for the past couple titles if it was ever in there at all. Yeah, you caught me...not a FPS multiplayer fan at all. I think the last one I played was COD3 and only did the single player, never went online. It was the one at the airport.

EDIT: Holy sweet mother of Archduke Ferdinand, I just watched a BF1 single player trailer. Why are we even talking about Verdun??? That was off-the-chain incredible. If the single player for that game has any meat on it I think I just sold myself on it.

Yeah, this is no Battlefield killer, that's for sure. Not even close.

Battlefield does have a SP mode. It's got 6 missions, so it's likely to be short. Probably better as a rental.

..or a free trial on EA Access for 6-8 hours of free gameplay the weekend prior to release. Should be well enough to conquer single player. Well, ahh hmm, for some of us. :tounge::og:

Yeah, I'm stuck with Redbox, I guess.

Do they charge you for EA access, btw? Or is it free with XBL?

I believe it is $30/year or $5/month. You get 6-8 hours free trial on all new games and then they show up without restricitions about a year after release, I wonder if it is digging into their sales.
