Monster news! Includes 4K releases as well starting with Wonder Woman. I'd like to think I'm still going to go to the movies, but let's be real, if it's available to stream I will not.

Hopefully they do this in my country, HBO max is tied into another service provider.

Insane. Done the right way aswell. None of that $30 on top of the sub like Disney did.

Wouldn't surprise me if WW 84 grossed more than the first.

Disney is releasing Pixar's Soul without surcharge on Christmas Day. I get what you're saying about Mulan, though. I think that might have been a failed experiment. Sounds like it wasn't that great, and it's about to become free anyway. It was always just timed for a month or whatever at $30.

These are some really heavy hitters for a streaming app! I'm jumping in for sure!

Finally some good big new movies to watch. That is all I care about.

Interesting, many argue they have some of the best streaming quality available.

They don't have quantity, but they have quality.

Plus, I was paying for HBO from my cable provider and it actually cost more than HBO Max.

Although to be fair I'm a huge fan of Oliver's Last Week Tonight and Real Time with Bill Maher so there's stuff I'm watching all the time.

Lately I struggle to find anything worth watching on Netflix. Sure, there's 100 new shows, but they are all of that "good not great" quality, or worse.

Honestly it's making me want to finally bite the bullet and sign up for HBO Max. I don't consume as much content as I used to, but I think I"m gonna sign up when WW84 drops.

I wonder if they could work out a partnership deal with chain restaurants or pizza joints? Sort of a replacement deal for the concessions? Maybe the participating vendor could have movie related collectibles?

I dunno, I just enjoyed going to the theaters and if it was a big movie event, I'd get the overpriced popcorn. I know concessions are a major part of the theater business to so I wonder if that side can be replaced somehow.

Disney did release their last Pixar movie straight to Disney+

Mulan was not just an experiment but also an attempt to recoup cost from/for their foreign investors

Ah crap! You're right! I saw Onward, and it was day-of on D+! I thought it was decent, but apparently it was pretty forgettable. 😄

True on Mulan needing to recoup on foreign investment. All of this adds to a blanket statement of D+ having a pattern of charging on top of subscription is false. It was only ever Mulan, and they could have easily charged for Hamilton, as tickets to see a live show were going for like $1K+. They would have easily made more money off of that show, and taken no heat for it, if money was all it was about!

RIP Dune 2 for real

I learned in the news that Warner Bros. has decided to release “Dune” on HBO Max at the same time as our theatrical release, using prominent images from our movie to promote their streaming service. With this decision AT&T has hijacked one of the most respectable and important studios in film history. There is absolutely no love for cinema, nor for the audience here. It is all about the survival of a telecom mammoth, one that is currently bearing an astronomical debt of more than $150 billion. Therefore, even though “Dune” is about cinema and audiences, AT&T is about its own survival on Wall Street. With HBO Max’s launch a failure thus far, AT&T decided to sacrifice Warner Bros.’ entire 2021 slate in a desperate attempt to grab the audience’s attention.

I don't understand the hate from directors and actors, could someone please explain.

Actors will make less money and that would include those who aren't big stars and are already rich

Long term if movies in theaters died off say goodbye to big budget movies.
