Slick from Linus tech tips was able to down clock at 5 year old GPU, GTX 480 to 405 mhz to reach Xbox 1 Fidelity and 440 to reach PS4 fidelity, with as badly optimized as Watch Dogs PC is.

I don't hate consoles, I own and play consoles. This was just a matter of putting it into perspective. I myself was even surprised by this.

Cool story bro

Putting what into perspective? That PC games almost never push the Hardware? That the current-gen consoles are under-powered? That UBIsoft isn't pushing PCs to the max? I'm pretty sure we all knew that. What's great is that for those of us who don't give a s***, you can remind us constantly of it.

Congratulations?

Most games don't come close to pushing higher-end PC Hardware. If you are getting framerates in the 100s, and that seems to happen a lot now-a-days, then the game isn't pushing your machine. Until everyone has the same PC with the same specs, this will always be true. Perhaps DX12 will help with this, but I imagine getting a game to work well on so many different configurations/architectures is an expensive endeavor.

Let me get you some cream for that butt hurt. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all. Mods can close this since console fanboys took this the wrong way and are getting chapped.

I call bulls***. So you are trying to say this was about UBiSoft's PC efforts, and not taking a stab at consoles? Riiiight.

I'm sure you are "chapped" at UBi's Watch_Dogs port, but you the way you use the video and post how low the settings are to get Console performance pretty much exposes what you are on about. It's not like this is the first time. Obvious agenda is obvious.

I also did give you a legitimate impression of why PC hardware is underutilized- trying to stay on topic a bit.

I wasn't taking a stab at consoles at all, I was saying that I am surprised that the game ran even at console settings on GTX 480. So before you come in here flailing your arms saying I'm trolling and all, maybe you should stop assuming such things. I never once badmouthed the consoles in the thread and earlier even stated I was surprised they got that performance out of such an old GPU.

Like I said, console fanboys take it out of context and get their feelings hurt. This needs to be closed.

You no hurt the Feels. Post History Counts, you know.

That has nothing to do with what is going on in this thread. Move along.

Lol, I'm the only one who actually contributed to your topic. Was it about UBi, or were you wanting to discuss how even and old PC can run the came at conolse settings? Perhaps you missed it while bitching about people calling a spade a spade instead of responding to my input which would be

Do you agree with this? Why do you think Ubi hasn't been pushing PC hardware? Do actually care, or WAS is just a stab? How does Ubi reconcile the cost of building such disparate versions?

Wow. Five years later and we barely have double power of the 480GTX in PC hardware. Its really telling of how r******d PC hardware advancements have been as of late. It's getting harder and harder to shrink that silicon.

Yeah, I've got a GTX 470 and it's still a beast, lol. Moore's Law has been taking a hit, but to be fair, a new card still smokes mine if you want the image quality and high framerates. On the graphics front, I think we aren't seeing the big jumps because they are just doing in realtime what was baked before, and those things-while making a difference- take some looking to really appreciate. Especially since the closer to reality the rendering gets, the more we dismiss seeing it because it's what we see with our own eyes all the time. Devs aren't "cheating" as much, but it takes much more processing to achieve.

I think PC gamers are going to see some great gains now that the new Generation of consoles is out. Devs can now justify spending the money on assets and tech R&D, regardless of how under-powered the new Gen is. Games like DriveClub and RYSE that really push new shader tech are great examples. Even the standard increases in resolution and framerate will be more meaningful, imo.

Are they using a top of the line processor though? That may help with the FPS increase too.

Also surprised at the 100+ mhz increase in order to get from 900p to 1080p. More than 792p to 900p.

Lol what? There are plenty of cards that are twice as powerful and more of gtx 480 out, that also do it at lower or equal power consumption.

Ah, I didn't realize that. Which ones if you mind me asking?

So basically Ubisoft did not use PC hardware at all.

*In other news water is wet*

This is surprising as well.

Wat???
o_O

I think people need to come to the realization that yes these consoles are powerful, but compared to previous generations it isn't a huge leap. PC hardware has eclipsed them in power.
This is in relation to PC. In comparison to the previous gen it is an improvement. No knock against consoles.

Regardless. I'm fairly sure @eVo7 wasn't trying to ruffle feathers by posting something factual.

EDIT: Saw the video. Yeah I'm locking this thread. @eVo7 you might not be doing it but that video is trolling. Like I said the consoles are powerful in their own right.
No need for this.
