Can You Trust Journalists

They can't even afford to give the PS5 a permanent price drop so I wouldn't be surprised if the pro was canned and shifted to the PS6.
What would the Pro have to do with PS6? They would be several years apart so one really has no impact on the other.

2028 seems to be the plan, at least based on things that came out during the Activision case. Later half would be correct, later stages sounds like the end is much closer. Silly thing either way but it wasn't accurate reporting and can easily make it sound like the end is closer than it is.
But but butt booty smack….um, but later half is the second half of the first half, so it’s the beginning of the of end of said second and therefore the finale of the universe that binds us.

Reading back i just noticed I quoted the wrong quote, so now it makes even less sense and I’ll leave it at that

The pro could be a test bed of whatever new tech they want to implement in the six, but could be used as a mode to keep the same tech into the six only at a cheaper price to manufacture for them. Therefore pizza

This is one of the many things the media does - manufacture drama. The story was that PS5 sales were slowing down. So what? We're 2/3 of the way through the generation, coming off a supply shortage followed by record sales.

My understanding is that this gen has far outsold past gen. They are presenting "facts" but in a way that twists them into bad news.

It is the same thing with the economy, they'll not report the stock market going up for months and setting records, but a one day drop leads.

They can't lie, but they can very carefully highlight certain things and ignore others.

Put those resources into the PS6 instead. Not like it's going to be radically different.
It's likely what MS did with the new Series X that got canned.

Sony literally can't afford to take a loss on the PS5 hence no permanent price drop so the Pro would likely be at least 100 more.

At this stage it's not really worth it so just move that work onto the PS6.

What resources? the tech for the PS6 wouldn't even available during the time the PS5 Pro was being developed. The specs for the PS5 Pro would have been decided last year, the PS6 won't be ready for years so I still don't get why you think that makes any sense. One has nothing to do with the other and doesn't interfere in any way. That digital series x that is said to have been cancelled wasn't going to offer anything new it was just an all digital option with a larger SSD so not really the same thing.

As far as a permanent price drops that's likely a thing of the past for any "premium" console. There are too many expensive parts in them now, SSD's are a lot cheaper now than at launch but still not as cheap as an HDD, they have twice as much memory as last gen consoles etc. Last gen the PS4 was $299 by the end of its lifecycle.

PS6 will likely be out in 2026. They have already signed contracts and will be well into working on it.
It's not hard to just take what they have done with the pro and move it to the 6.
Companies do stuff like that all the time.

Less risk? Hopping for a quicker return on investment and to break even sooner than before.

You think they’ll scrap the psvr2 for something new or just carry it over. Maybe just label it as psv3, with just a new coat of paint. So one can associate it with the new console easier? Maybe by then they’ll improve the internals to be easier and cheaper to produce?

That guys good for posting numbers. And even then it's mainly pointless due to only focusing on physical sales most of the time.
