What are you currently reading?

Started reading Heat 2. Not too far into it yet but feels like I'm reading a Michael Mann movie.

I was going to buy the audiobook for this, really glad I looked at the reviews first. The narrator they found for the audiobook is absolutely tarrible, they really need to re-record it with someone else ASAP.

I'm about halfway into 'My Best Friend's Exorcism', liking it a lot so far. My first book from Grady Hendrix.

I will say that Al Pacino's character is written in a way that makes me hear his voice in my head when I'm reading it. Maybe they could get all the actors back to record it. Mann was the writer on Heat so guess it makes sense that a novel would feel like watching a movie.

I may have to bite the bullet and buy the book version if nothing comes quickly of the audio version. Love the movie, love Michael Mann, definitely want to check this out!

Finished Heat 2 a week or so ago. Really enjoyed it and should make for a a fun movie. While it does have some good action sequences, there won't be anything quite like the first movie's bank heist.

Recently started Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson. I previously read Zodiac by him so want to make it through his books. This one is really interesting in that it being written in 1992 coined the term metaverse, which in the book pretty much describes an early build of a VR/AR MMO that we are used to now.

I finished Clown in a Cornfield 2: Frendo Lives last weekend. I really hope the inevitable movies of this series gets the budget it deserves.

Finished Snow Crash. Really enjoyed it although the ending was pretty abrupt. Not a big ding against it though just odd is all.

Think my next book will be City in the Middle of the Night. Have heard good things.

On Book 10 of the Expeditionary Force series. Super addicted to these books and I'll be super bummed when I get caught up. Book 15 releases at the end of this year.

City in the Middle of the Night was decent. Currently reading Cabin at the End of the World by Paul Tremblay. Says it's horror genre which I have not read before. Not really sure what to expect in a horror book but as a big fan of the genre in other mediums, it's not really doing much for me. It is a good book so far otherwise.

Haven't updated this in a while and too lazy to read what I've read recently, but currently reading Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. Blade Runner is one of my favorite movies of all time and so far I'm loving the book a little over half way through. The nice thing is the movie is different enough that reading the book is like a new experience anyways.

Since the last update I've read Turning Angel by Greg Iles, the first two books in Martha Wells' Murderbot series, and then just finished Recursion by Blake Crouch.

With Crouch's Dark Matter being turned into a show on Apple TV, I hope this one gets made as well. He's one of my favorite writers so definitely want to read Upgrade some time.

Children of Time trilogy: Pretty good. Parts of it are quite dull, but the core concepts are rather incredibly executed. Ultimately very memorable.

The Last Ronin (TMNT): highly overrated. What a terrible villain. At least it's a cool idea.

Wonder Woman Dead Earth: excellent. One of my favorite elseworlds stories I've ever read.

Edit: can the mods sticky this thread?

Children of Time is on my to read list although might be a while.

I have Kindle Unlimited right now and they have The Last Ronin. Maybe I'll check it out while it's available on there.

Most recently finished Priory of the Orange Tree. Might be my longest book at 800 pages although maybe Dune was close? Don't read a lot of fantasy but really enjoyed the world building so maybe I should. I kept thinking while reading it that it would make a fun TV show.

Convergence by Craig Alanson - not a horrible book, but not extraordinary. Good enough to compel me to read the sequel when it's released later this month. Alanson previously wrote the very good Expeditionary Force series.

Roadkill by Dennis E. Taylor - avoid at all costs. Way too slow with nothing happening for the vast majority of the book. Terribly boring and very meh performance (audiobook). Surprising since Taylor wrote a really fun series previously (The Bobiverse series).

Finished Flowers for Algernon over the weekend. Really sad book.

Started reading The Raven Tower. Wasn't really interested in fantasy but after loving Priory of the Orange Tree I've decided to read it more and quickly becoming a favorite genre up there with Sci-fi.

Also read the first book of The Last Ronin. Kindle Unlimited has all 14 volumes of the current TMNT run so probably going to work through those as well.
