Seriously, no viruses at all.

When I first got my HP Mini Netbook it came win Windows XP. It picked up all kinds of stuff including a horrible Root Kit virus. Running Linux? Nuthing. See the latest Anti-Virus software in the store? Walk by it; don't care; don't need it.

Linux also has a good built-in firewall system called IPtables.

Funny thing about Windows, I used to get viruses all the time, but since I removed all anti-virus software I get none..crazy.

CompTIA A+ EXAM CRAM by David Prowse

I think the Mike Myers All In One book I got is overkill and absurdly long at 30 chapters and almost 1500 pages. This is only 651 including 19 chapters and Practice Exams. I downloaded a preview to my Kindle and so far like this book much better. I will likely buy the full version.

I might also supplement this with any videos I can find online. Also for what it's worth, I can still use Myers Exam CD. I think his book is padded with much more content than it really needs though and I regret buying it.

It's things like that that make me kind of resent CompTIA. Paying for more study material and overpriced exams is the last thing broke college grads need. It's also vague to me what I can expect from their questions. Will I really need to memorize Motherboard model numbers to the numbers of pins in many connections?

This summer I'm going to make it a point to read some of the classic novels that I was supposed to read when I was is school. Was going to start with All Quiet on the Western Front. Any other recommendations?

I usually read non-fiction (spirituality, paranormal, psychology, that sort of stuff), but I've gotten back into fiction lately. I haven't read a novel in years. I got fed up with trying to find good characters and storytelling in videogames and decided I should just read a book. So, I've been hitting the library lately...

The Wonder of All Things, by Jason Mott -- good stuff. About a little girl who can heal people.

Soil
, by Jamie Kornegay -- got about halfway through this one before deciding I didn't want to invest the time to finish it. A good first novel by a southern writer. He brings to life some interesting and bizarre people. Creative use of language, some really interesting bits, but none of the characters were relateable enough for me to put the time in to finish it.

The Martian
, by Andy Weir -- read about 70 pages. Kind of interesting, and I like the narrator, but there is way too much talk about engineering for me. I'll continue for a while and see if it gets meatier or if this is just hard sf with all the nerdy details. I want him to stumble across an alien civilization, but I suspect this is just a survival story.

All Things, All at Once, by Lee Abbott - short story collection. I've read a few of the stories, none of them really connected with me. His tone is too detached for me to really empathize with the characters.

Currently reading Fear the Survivors, which is the second book in the series Sky Saga (pretty sure I just made that up). Really good books, about 3/4 through with the second.

I finished UBIK. Interesting ideas and villain, but WTF at the ending?

Finished reading this again. So confusing.

Almost wonder if this a random bombshell ending just for the sake of messing with the readers head, but doesn't really add up in the plot.

Also, I was really, really hoping Michel Gondry could adapt this as a film, but I guess it was to weird even for him.

Do audio books count?

Just started listening to "The Screwtape Letters" by C.S. Lewis through the Amazon Audible app free trial. It's about a senior demon named Screwtape writing letters to his nephew Wormwood giving him advice.

Edit: I really need to buy a copy of "misreading scripture with western eyes" by E Randolph Richards & Brandon J O'Brien and start reading it.

Not reading, yet, but I just ordered a copy of Sir Alex Ferguson's new book called Leading.

Do not read sport personalities books normally, but if any man knows about leadership and dealing with a huge array of differing peoples, then it has to be Alex Ferguson.

This book was so good. If you have any interest in the settling of the west I highly recommend it.

Anyone reading anything? I got really into reading a couple years ago after not reading much for years. Once again it's been a while but with Heat 2, a sequel to the movie, coming out early next month I'm thinking of reading again. I do read magazines like The Atlantic with long form articles, and need to catch up on that as I'm a couple months behind.

Also thinking about reading some comics again. I do enjoy X-Men stuff which is about all I read superhero wise, but thinking about reading more one shot type or limited run comics.

I'll probably be picking up the Heat 2 audiobook, but I'm waiting for reviews. Looking forward to the sequel to Clown In a Cornfield next month as well.

I don't read anymore. It's sort of pathetic.

Used to read all kinds of classics in my teenage years and a bit beyond. Used to love reading magazines related to stuff/idols etc I was into.

f*** reading I'm too lazy for that s***! Haha. No, really it's kind of sad. I probably still love reading and just don't know it and don't know what to read to get rejuvenated.

Last book I can remember reading was..........Probably an Ian McEwan novel or maybe the last of the Song of Ice and Fire.

My reading has declined a lot. It was replaced by job / career research time, educational material, or Indeed.com time. Then later by crazy long work shift time and while driving listening to the insane current events news.

I did do an audiobook of the short story 8 O'clock in the Morning which was the inspiration for the movie THEY LIVE. Might gradually do more audio books, but I'm often dissatisfied with the options I find on Audible and I'm super picky about Fiction Narration.

I have also considered doing comics or manga to read stuff that is casual and a short episodic form.

My problem is I'm afraid to try reading something.

I can read btw, I just don't know WHAT to read.

The last book I purchased is sitting around somewhere. It's Johnny Marr's "set the boy free" his auto-biography. (guitarist for The Smiths)

(where is that book? oh it's right there, ok read it!!!!!!!!!!!)

Ok found my book guys! haha. Not sure how far I'll get though, and I already forget most of what I've read and I'm only on page 31. So do I start over?

That's the thing with reading stories, you need to set some time aside to do it.

Maybe I'll do that because I think reading is very powerful for our brains.

Start over. Read a half chapter while eating breakfast in the morning before work instead of having the TV on or playing a game.

99.9999% of my "reading" is all via Audible / audio books now. I love it, can listen to a book while I cook dinner, do yard-work, or while I'm driving. I've knocked out quite a few books this year because of it.

I'm finally getting around to reading the Hyperion sci-fi series. It is slow going, but I always try and find at least a little time to read a chapter each night.

On weeknights I force myself to turn off video games by 8-9pm and at least get a little reading in. It is definitely tough as I get older, but I stick to it.

I treated myself to a Kindle Paperwhite too which is great. I use that so I don't end up switching to Youtube/browser and doing something useless.

I bought Hyperion a few years ago but never got to it.
