I’m with you. Maybe for me now being in my 50s I’m getting worn out a bit?I'm in one of those gaming funks. My backlog is filled with stuff, especially on PC. I play something for 20 minutes and set it down.
Started Hogwarts Legacy, really like it, but just am not playing it a lot.
Been messing around with Civ 7, but keep starting and restarting.
My Steam library is filled with games I haven't touched.
Started Borderlands 3 (never played it) and same thing, just not pulling me in.
I think the Battlefield 6 beta broke me. I want to play that.

Yup same. I’m looking for shorter campaigns now. Just spent 4 hours completing Sword of the Sea. I’m good with that.I'm 55 now and I'm still able to complete titles. However, the shorter the game they better. My tolerance for playing super late in the evening is very low. I'm much more focused and can play a bit longer in the morning. However, those opportunities don't lend themselves because of work and other responsibilities.

Kinda sounds like Full Spectrum Warrior from back in the day.I might have found my game to break out of my funk. I had Door Kickers 2 in my library off some sale and finally tried it (PC only unfortunately). A top down tactical game where you control a small squad. It is sort of real time, but you can pause and map out moves anytime as well. Think Xcom and the old Rainbow Six games merged. You can have "go codes" to coordinate teams going in, but you don't control anyone specifically. It is fun but hard. You have to watch every window and door and possible angle, even the best plans sometimes lead to half your squad getting mowed down.
It is easy to pick up, but very hard to master.
The first game is awesome, never cared for the sequel, felt like an unhandely, rainbow six version of Hotline Miami.I might have found my game to break out of my funk. I also installed The Outer Worlds off GamePass. With the new one coming soon I’d like to finally play through this. Have read it’s on the shorter side of most RPG’s, good!

Wait, they made a sequel to that? I own the original Full Spectrum Warrior digitally.God damn the sequel was awesome. Sucks they couldn't put it on the Xbox store when they made it BC.
Exactly. Many older folks want shorter games. 10-15 hours games costing like 40 bucks is WIN/WN (gamers/Developers)I'm 55 now and I'm still able to complete titles. I never knew a sequel existed, must’ve missed that back in the day.Yeah and it was fantastic

Also this trend of a game is good only if its soul-like need to die. Many people just want to chill. We are okay with some challenged, but like iRL, we do not want to be challenged all the time.
The Full Spectrum Warrior and Brothers in Arms games were pretty awesome back in the day!
Crazy that was 20 years ago...
I forgot Brothers in Arms. Those campaigns were awesome. The Full Spectrum Warrior and Brothers in Arms games were pretty awesome back in the day!

I am in agreement that game pricing should also be base on quality, like other products.I partially agree with you. I'm willing to pay $60 for a 10-15 game if it is a quality experience.
I hate souls-like and how it has seemly taken over the rpg/action adventure genre. So many game IMO would be better off without the soul like mechanics. You can demonstrate skill without a stamina bar and constant parrying. Ninja Gaiden 2 showed that back in 2008.
