What health ailments are you living with?

Like most, as I've gotten older I've gotten a few more health ailments that I'll be living with for probably the rest of my life. A few I've head forever.

Probably the biggest one I have is a skip beat of my heart. It's called a PVC. It's not actually a "skip beat" but an early beat and the heart stops beating for a beat and then kicks in hard after. It's a weird feeling. Since I'm very aware of it I feel it far more than the average person. Most don't have a clue they have one. The estimation is that 80% plus people actually have one and only a small percentage actually feel it. I've had it forever but in the past few years it's become more prominent. I would only feel it like once or twice a year and last year it got so bad that it was happening 5000+ times a day. Every beat it would 'stop.' Turns out that I had gotten high blood pressure as well over the past few years also. Add into the fact of horrible family genetics and my carotid artery had calcium buildup even though my cholesterol numbers are beyond fantastic. The skip beat can be cause by a million different things. In me we're not sure. They didn't see anything terribly wrong with the structure of my heart. I have a soft valve that sometimes leaks blood back in and that can be a cause or it could be acid reflux irritating the vagus nerve. It could also be stress, etc. which the past few years have been filled with. So I'm on a beta blocker for the forseable future to control the high blood pressure and hopefully curb the skip beats. I probably average 100-200 skips per day now. I don't feel them as much as I've gotten used to living with them. I always feel them when I'm most relaxed and I can focus on them.

Then there's a knee issue. Years of physical activity and lifting heavy weights have taken their toll on my left knee. There's degradation behind the kneecap and a very sensitive MCL leads to knee pain and limping for a few days if I overdo it. The good news is that if I stop the strenuous activity the pain goes away. Plyometrics and very heavy deadlifting and squatting aggravate the sh!t out of it. Weather changes is a big b!tch also. When it gets raw outside the pain flairs up. It's damn true you can feel weather changes in your joints!

So, I take a beta blocker daily, in the morning, along with a baby aspirin at night in addition to fish oil capsules and a probiotic. That's my daily medicine/supplement routine.

What do you live with?

got a PVC too! we're like the hearty boys! mine is not as significant and doesn't require any meds…fingers crossed.

bad left knee from playing sports all my life.
bad left hip (bursa sack ruptured last July while playing ultimate).
a slipped disc- i think this stems from falling out of the turnip truck back in college.
left heel plantar fecitius (sp?) flared up for the first time back in June. probably connected to all the other left side ailments. its getting better through stretching and ice.
something new: i started getting extremely dry skin flare ups starting last year on my fingers. it comes and goes about once every other month. they crack open and start to bleed. changing my diet and staying away from alcohol to see if that remedies the situation.

getting old sucks, people, try to avoid it.

Not diagnosed by a doctor or anything, but I have a mild case of panic attacks. Nothing crazy but every now and again I find myself getting very short on breath, heart beats extremely fast, and I feel like my heart could just explode at any moment. Don't take anything for it or anything like that though as it's very mild.

Frozen Shoulder...both sides too. The most painful thing ever when it first starts. It literally feels like someone is sticking a knife through your shoulder if you move the wrong way. Thankfully, that phase only lasts a few months.
No apparent cause with mine, it just spontaneously happened a few years ago. Its getting better, slowly....

Bad left knee - Not really diagnosed. My doctor said it might be a little arthritis setting in. It doesn't hurt all the time. I can still run; I just need to be away of it. I really feel it with lunges.
Tight left hip - I think I got it from running. At first, it was a bursa inflammation. Now, I get a tightening of the hip when running or biking. I have to keep up with my strengthening and stretching exercises.
Pulled abs - Dealt with this crap all last year. Went as far as getting a colonoscopy and upper gi. I have another appointment, but I think we're coming to the conclusion its a muscle pull.

I have this as well.

I've been thinking about seeing a doctor about it. But I think it's all mental because it happens in some of the dumbest situations that I have no business being anxious about.

Acid Reflux. Which sucks because the two favorite things I like to drink irritate it, coffee & alcohol.

Yeah exactly. I know it's all in my head, but just can't seem to stop it.

High blood pressure and over active thyroid (or under active, I forget which one)....both of which I take daily meds for.

I have a daily back and neck aches due to 3 (or 4) herniated discs in back and neck from a car accident I was in. I take muscle relaxants but that only alliviates pain just a bit. This also leads to bad headaches as well.
I have issues with sciatica which may, or may not be related to the accident, could just be age. Pain radiating from lower back to legs. Get finger tingles sometimes, not sure if related to sciatica.

Yes, growing old sucks.

I do have sciatica issues as well but it only happens when I first start back into lifting after a long break and I progress too fast with deadlifting or squatting.

Yeah, last year I started working out, and my back, neck and sciatica issues were greatly relieved. Over the holidays, I kinda fell off from working out....gain back some weight, and oh, look at that....back/neck/head pains are back.

lol. I started working out again last week, so let's see if I could decrease these pains again.

Working out and making the back stronger, neck and spine, will relieve the pressure of everyday activity a great deal.

High blood pressure and Gout.

Gout is ridiculous and awful if it really flairs up. You wake up with this odd soreness in your toe that can lead to excruciating joint arthritis.

Physical ailments: hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and sleep apnea.

Psycho-spritual ailments: don't get me started.

Have/had that also. Turns out the pea protein I was taking is the worst possible thing you can eat if you have a tendency to develop gout. I never thought I had it and was never a concern. I would feel like I was coming down with a cold every day but woke up feeling great. It would last for a few hours. Turns out the pea protein causes a massive buildup of uric acid. I would get massive arthritic pain and sensitive skin in my toes or top of my foot into the front of my calve, left foot only. Sometimes in my hand as well. it was debilitating. Stopped supplementing with the pea protein and those pains and sensations are all but gone.

lazy fat ass and I break out on my face once in a while because of eczema.

Saphenous nerve damage to right leg, only fix is to remove nerve leaving leg numb .2 surgically repaired knees and a right shoulder (torn labrum) scheduled for surgery in February.

High blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, acid reflux and Rheumatoid arthritis. Death is imminent lol

Mild anemia. Nothing majorly crippling but fairly scary when I have an episode. No one likes to fall head first onto the kitchen tile or pass out while lifting weight.

Well when I was 18 I had open heart surgery, and now iam back has been hurting I have sciatic its not fun.
I also have bad knees and legs.plus iam have a learning disabitly

I'm not old yet, just 34-ish.
No real health problems yet, but I've noticed that things just hurt when they never used to. Like I got onto my bike the other day and as I swung my foot over, and brought it back down the impact really hurt. I didn't land on a weird angle or anything, the joint just didn't like the rough stomp. It ached for the rest of the day. Cold weather probably doesn't help either.

Asthma comes and goes as it pleases. I notice that the more I exercise, the less it effects, but every once in a while, it just hits you anyway and if I don't have my inhaler handy, it can be an arduous day for me. I also have what I would consider to be big feet. I think my body grew because shirts feel tighter in the shoulder area and I used to be a size 12 one year ago. Now I'm 13 for some reason, although that changes on the footware as some are a perfect fit in size 12 like these winter boots I bought.

I've had random moments where it's like my muscles are saying "WTF are you doing?".
