Personally, I can't think of one. I haven't played a game that stands above all others this year. I thought RDR2 would be the one, but nope.

I enjoy RDR2, but I do not think it should be GOTY as I feel the gameplay part of RDR2 is lacking a bit. Shooting is braindead since you can lock targets, & the main missions especially are to scripted, which often involve follow one of the cowboy buddies within 10 feet, & do what they told you to do. Deviated from it, game over. Not to mention too much horse riding.

It is however a powerful entertainmet package, & best value I ever have, by pure scale & amount of stuff to do.

I enjoyed Spider-man the most ( I know I surprised people that I love Spider-man), as the combat is pretty deep, have a good leveling system, great story & freedom (to web swing everywhere). The side mission can be a bit repetitive though.

GOW looks amazing, & combat is quite nice. Puzzles are decent. they are interesting while not particularly demanding, except a few of the timed axe throwing puzzles. The stroy is also amazing. There is a fair bit of backtracking but overall its an amazing game.

From an enjoyment point of view, I will go with Spider-man, but as a game package, I have to go with GoW.

I haven't even played any of the games people consider for 2018. I bought GOW on sale a few weeks back and have yet to even fire it up.

The uniter of the tribes. The PUBG killer. The biggest game of all time. The game that made gaming cool. The Paragon that will guide this industry into it's blindingly bright future. The game that made even the mighty Disney bend the knee. The true King of Kings...

Fortnite, and it's not even close.

It has the most dynamic combat in any shooter I've ever played. That, plus the massive weekly updates make it the best game I've played all ye...all generation. Arguably of all time.

Note: Single player GotY goes to Hitman 2

I honestly don't know for this year. The best game I played this year came out in 2017( Persona 5). Of the games I played that were released this year, it may be a toss up between, Assassins Creed: Odyssey and The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II(PC). My backlog of 2018 games is going to make my 2019 great.

Persona 5 was such a surprise hit for me. I was drawn in by its visual style and hooked by its storytelling, music and gameplay mechanics. That game was just so well made but I do understand its an acquired taste and its appeal especially around these parts might be limited.

You also praise AC: Odyssey and now its on my radar, one because its on sale on PSN and two because of your excellent taste in games (P5 shout-out).

As for GOTY I will have to go with God of War. The only other game to come close as a total complete package of excellence is Spider-Man. But Spidey's newest adventure was hurt a little by its side missions. They were fun but nowhere near as good as the main campaign missions. I have its DLC to complete but I don't expect much to change from its core structure.

You wouldn't be disappointed. It started a bit slow though IMO, but get better as the game process.

You need help.

I don't know. The game I enjoyed the most was Yakuza Kiwami, but that was a remake of a game that came out a long time ago. Otherwise, I'd have to go with God of War, although I wasn't as enthusiastic about it as a lot of people were. I haven't played a couple of the big ones from this year (Spidey and RDR2).

I agree P5 is an acquired taste but it just did everything right imo. Story and gameplay were superb and the music was so damn catchy. Pacing was good too. The game didn't overstay its welcome and drag on like others in the genre do.

AC: Odyssey to me, was an updated version of Origins. I'm not an Assassin's Creed guy but both those game stand out to me as a gamer. If you enjoyed Origins, you'll enjoy Odyssey.

I'm still making my way through Spiderman and its a good game. But having said that, I don't think personally it reaches the heights so to speak of the Arkham games by Rocksteady.

I have GOW but its still in the plastic wrap. It may be my 2019 GOTY( barring a Cyberpunk 2077 holiday release) when I get around to it.

After consideration, I say Assassins Creed odyssey.
It's very gamey compared to rdr2, but looking back and the most fun I've had with any game this year is AC odyssey, it's a masterpiece of a video game imo
Own up, you just enjoyed playing as a dude wearing skirts.

SP game I have no idea I’ve missed a lot of games this year.

MP wise out of what I’ve played goes to COD BO4. The Blackout mode is a blast and the regular MP grew on me to the point I really like it now.

For me probably God of War. That just below me away. Other notable titles this year for me were RDR2 and AC Odyssey. Both of those were also excellent.
Sleeper hit of the year is Ashen. Hands down.

I haven't even opened 7 of the games I bought during BF, so I'm not sure if any of them are better than WWE 2K19 or not. The reason I chose it over every other game is because it's actually fun to play the entire time. I can just start the game up and play. It's simplistic and fun. No anger inducing forced nonsense to endure in order to play.

It's tough. My top 3 are God of War, Spiderman, and RDR 2. I can't figure out which order.

All three are great in very different ways-

RDR being so much its own thing. The slow pace that really works for a long time, the incredible visuals, the sense of immersion. The weird ability to soak in extremely mundane activities like sipping coffee in the morning.

It's unique, but does that mean it's better than a super focused, fun, and engaging Spiderman? Spidey is about as perfectly formulated gamedom as you can get.

God of War deserves huge credit for not only having the stones to completely change their formula, but also for making a douche like Kratos relatable. The game is bad at nothing, and great at most it tries to do.

Both GoW and Spiderman were games I had to play from start to finish. I couldn't do that with Red Dead for obvious reasons, but I've probably spent more actual time playing it.

TLDR: I can't decide.

My number one was Shadow of the Tomb Raider. I know I love a game when I can’t take a break or put it down. I would have like a better ending but otherwise it felt great. I love that it went back to preferred stealth to complete and focused on puzzles and tombs as well as collecting.

It's strange, I really love the series and thought this would be the best in the series being in, what I think, is a much more interesting setting. And för the first 1/3 of the game, I really thought it would be.
But after finishing it I'm starting to think it's the weakest one of the three, don't get me wrong, it's still a very good game but I'm feeling gamespots review is the most accurate of the bigger sites. The score is too low though, but every critique they give is pretty much correct imo. The things it does better though is the much lesser focus on combat, too bad the puzzles and adventure part is a bit hit and miss.
Still, it's def in my top 10 this year.

I haven’t played God of War yet but I’d say it’s either Spider-Man, Celeste, or RDR 2 for me.
